Both players have been training hard throughout the year and have shown excellent results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Barry<\/strong> has won four tournaments this year including the most recent girls <strong>14U WA Open<\/strong>. An outstanding effort for the 11 year old. <strong>Barry<\/strong> has an <strong>Australian<\/strong> ranking of 2 for girls born in 2002 and a <strong>W.A.<\/strong> ranking of 1. Last year she represented <strong>W.A.<\/strong> in the girl\u2019s 12U state team as a 10 year old and will once again head up the<strong> W.A.<\/strong> team as the number 1 player. <strong>Barry<\/strong> will then contest the <strong>12U individual event<\/strong> at the <strong>Showdown<\/strong> in <strong>Melbourne<\/strong> for which she will be seeded number 6. A fantastic effort as she is still playing a year out of her age group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Barry<\/strong> will be attending the <strong>Showdown<\/strong> with her coach <strong>Brad Dyer<\/strong> who anticipates good results for the upcoming tournament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Monique has been putting in some outstanding work on the practice court and will definitely hold her own in Melbourne. We are excited to be heading over and I expect her to perform well and with the experienced gained, she will only improve. I haven&#8217;t seen too many 11 year olds hit the ball as well as she does, she is going to be dangerous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/12\/03\/greenwood-juniors-set-their-sights-on-december-showdown-2013\/attachment\/louis-corker\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7975\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7975 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/12\/Louis-Corker-410x303.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another promising junior from <strong>Greenwood<\/strong> is <strong>Louis Corker<\/strong> who is ranked number 1 in <strong>W.A.<\/strong> for his age group and will represent <strong>W.A<\/strong> in the <strong>14&#8217;s Australian Teams Event<\/strong> held in <strong>Melbourne<\/strong> during the <strong>December Showdown<\/strong>. <strong>Corker<\/strong> is currently ranked number 6 in <strong>Australia<\/strong> for the 14&#8217;s age group and will be seeded number 4 for the <strong>14&#8217;s Australian Championships<\/strong>. <strong>Corker<\/strong> has also managed to be a direct acceptance into the <strong>16&#8217;s Australian Championships<\/strong> held a week after the <strong>14\u2019s competition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greenwood Tennis Club<\/strong> Coach and <strong>Tennis Australia&#8217;s<\/strong> Talent Development Coach\u00a0<strong>Ash Dyer<\/strong> has been <strong>Corker\u2019s<\/strong> coach for the past 5 years and\u00a0believes he has a realistic chance of winning the<strong> 14&#8217;s Australian Championships<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has a chance to win the title, but there are some consistent players in the draw that will make a lot of balls, which is\u00a0an important ingredient\u00a0at this young\u00a0age if you want to win junior events.\u00a0Louis has\u00a0a big game, a game I think that will put him in good stead come transition time from Junior to Senior. I believe Louis will start to play his best tennis around 18,19 when he fully grows into his big frame and understands the game better. That&#8217;s when his results will really matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greenwood Tennis Club<\/strong>\u00a0also has 2 other boys that will be playing at the <strong>December Showdown<\/strong>. <strong>Luke Keddie<\/strong> will attempt to qualify for the <strong>16&#8217;s Australian Championships<\/strong> and <strong>Sudock Hong\u00a0<\/strong>will\u00a0represent W.A in both the <strong>14&#8217;s Australian Teams Event<\/strong> and <strong>Individual event<\/strong>, these players are also coached by <strong>Ash Dyer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We wish all the juniors from W.A. the best of luck throughout the tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monique Barry and Louis Corker of Greenwood Tennis Club will be participating with the country\u2019s best players at Melbourne Park for the December Showdown.
