{"id":6680,"date":"2013-06-14T10:32:15","date_gmt":"2013-06-14T02:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=6680"},"modified":"2013-06-14T10:32:15","modified_gmt":"2013-06-14T02:32:15","slug":"ten-australians-in-wimbledon-qualifying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/06\/14\/ten-australians-in-wimbledon-qualifying","title":{"rendered":"Ten Australians in Wimbledon qualifying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/06\/14\/ten-australians-in-wimbledon-qualifying\/attachment\/ten-australians-in-wimbledon-qualifying\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6682\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-6682\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/06\/Ten-Australians-in-Wimbledon-qualifying-410x272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 10-strong Australian contingent will take to the grasscourts at Roehampton, London for the Wimbledon qualifying event.<\/p>\n<p>James Duckworth, Matt Barton, Sam Groth, Matt Reid and John-Patrick Smith will feature among the 128 competitors in men\u2019s qualifying action, to commence on Monday 17 June.<\/p>\n<p>Anastasia Rodionova, Casey Dellacqua, Olivia Rogowska, Ash Barty and Monique Adamzcak will represent Australia in the 96-player women\u2019s qualifying field.<\/p>\n<p>At world No.169, Duckworth is the highest ranked of the Australian men in qualifying, and recently qualified for the French Open at Roland Garros.<\/p>\n<p>Also taking confidence into the qualifying event at the Bank of England Sports Ground in Roehampton will be Groth, who successfully qualified for this week\u2019s ATP event at London\u2019s Queen\u2019s Club and took a set of No.12 seed Lukas Rosol in the first round.<\/p>\n<p>World No.109 Matt Ebden was also set to contest the qualifying event before it was announced on Wendesday that he\u2019d received a main draw wildcard.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Ebden awarded Wimbledon Wildcard\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/06\/14\/ebden-awarded-wimbledon-wildcard\" target=\"_blank\">&gt; Ebden awarded Wimbledon wildcard<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Among the women, Rodionova, Dellacqua and Barty will look to again display the form that has brought them grasscourt success over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Rodionova, who reached the final round of qualifying in Paris, progressed to the third round at Wimbledon in 2010, while Dellacqua \u2013 who this week qualified for the WTA grasscourt event in Birmingham \u2013 reached the last 32 two years earlier at the All England Club.<\/p>\n<p>Barty, a Wimbledon junior champion in 2011, won the Nottingham $50,000 ITF grasscourt event prior to the 2012 Championships, just a few months after winning the $25,000 ITF grasscourt event in Mildura.<\/p>\n<p>The Championships, Wimbledon will be staged at the All England Club from 24 June to 7 July 2013.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 10-strong Australian contingent will take to the grasscourts at Roehampton, London for the Wimbledon qualifying event.
