To assist in the training of mentors in sport, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has developed a Mentor Training Program.

The course aims to enhance skills of the mentor to assist coaches and officials within their roles both in the community and high performance environments. It is recommended that participants are familiar with the mentoring structure and the role of the mentor within their sport.

This course contains a number of practical activities to practise mentoring skills. On completion of the workshop, mentors should be able to plan and organise mentoring relationships and assist mentees to develop and improve.

Mentoring is an effective way for coaches and officials to learn and develop under the supervision of a senior coach or official. Mentors can assist with coaching or officiating skills improvement and be a sounding board for problems.

Begins: 9:00am Saturday 29 June 2013
Finishes: 5:00pm Saturday 29 June 2013
Venue: Department of Sport and Recreation
Address: 246 Vincent Street Leederville WA
Cost: $22.00
Contact: Ben Hlaing
Email: ben.hlaing@dsr.wa.gov.au

Download registration form

Complaint management course for organisations

The following information will be covered:

Principles of complaint handling
The role and responsibilities of a complaint handler
The role of policies such as a member protection policy
An approach for dealing with complaints, both informal and formal
Catering will be provided.

RSVP by Friday 10 May 2013
Email info@wasportsfed.asn.au
Telephone 08 9387 8100
Begins: 9:00am Thursday 16 May 2013
Finishes: 3:30pm Thursday 16 May 2013
Venue: Department of Sport and Recreation
Address: 246 Vincent Street, Leederville
Cost: Free
Contact: Helen Cunningham 08 9387 8100
Email: info@wasportsfed.asn.au

Download registration form

Mentor Training Course The program covers the interpersonal skills required for mentors and the planning and processes of mentoring.
