Doubles Tournament.\u00a0<\/em><em>Winners: Elizabeth Moir\u00a0and Kate Bailey from Peppermint Grove\u00a0Tennis Club<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The HELEN WATERS W.I.T. DOUBLES IN ITS 13TH YEAR,\u00a0\u00a0 this year at Maylands Tennis Club was a great success.\u00a0 We had 66 pairs and 13 on the waiting list.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe weather was a little humid and a slight drizzle, but players didn&#8217;t come off at all.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nEveryone enjoyed the day and the Maylands helpers with Julie Green at the helm did a splendid job all day catering with a scrumptious morning tea array of slices and cakes, then the luncheon was very much enjoyed with freshly baked rolls on the day and a lovely array of salads and meats and home made chutney.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLEON DHU THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR assisted by the very capable Bev Leighton ran the sets efficiently on the day.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe great Maylands Helpers were JULIE GREEN, JEANETTE AND ALAN FRANCES, LANEY ANDERSON, JAN CATCHPOLE, BOB AND GERRY WILLIAMSON, POLLY RATTRAY, BETH KENNETT AND JOHN KNIGHT.\u00a0 a BIG THANKYOU TO ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO DID A STIRLING JOB.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe list of\u00a0 the lucky prizewinners are below\u00a0 ;-<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE 1ST PRIZE $250\u00a0 voucher donated by Hayden Gibson, Tennis Only went to Julie Vhlahos from Maylands<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE 2ND PRIZE A TENNIS RACQUET donated by Tennis West went to Dianne Phelps from Scarborough<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE 3RD PRIZE A TENNIS BAG donated by Tennis Only went to Janette Connelly from Mosman Park<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE 4TH PRIZE\u00a0 AN AUZIE PACK donated by Tennis West went to\u00a0 Jean Love from Kelmscott<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE 5TH PRIZE A POT PLANT donated by Women in Tennis went to Agnes Chong from Applecross<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAs you can see the prizes were well spread around 5 clubs which was wonderful.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe amount received from the raffle was $801.00\u00a0 PLUS $60 FROM MONIES RAISED FROM DONATED POT PLANTS &#8211; TOTAL\u00a0 $861.00 ALTOGETHER.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE WINNERS ON THE DAY RECEIVED 2 BOTTLES OF WINE DONATED BY OUR MAJOR SPONSOR GORDON DAVIES OF WERE WINES AND A $25 VOUCHER FROM TENNIS ONLY.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nTHE RUNNERS UP RECEIVED A BOTTLE OF WINE FROM WERE WINES AND A PAIR OF SOCKS<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners of\u00a0 red division were\u00a0\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 Elizabeth Moir and Katherine Bailey from peppermint Grove<br \/>\nThe runners up were Phillipa Conway and Romelie Grayson from Peppermint Grove<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners of blue division were Barbara Van De Hoek and Grace Bradley from Seniors\/Melville<br \/>\nThe runners up were Helen Strano\/Judy Allison from Maylands<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners of green division were Louise De St. Joree and Di Bowman from Nedlands<br \/>\nThe runners up were Ann Lloyd and June Rimmington from Melville<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners of the yellow division were Jerry Wise and Lorraine\u00a0 Urquhart from Mt. Lawley<br \/>\nThe runners up were Lyn Jolley and Jacqui Perritt from North Beach<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners of the purple division were Keri Benporath and Debbie Parker from Midland<br \/>\nThe runners up were Agnes Chong and Wati Hartley from Blue Gum<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe winners only were Jan Davey and Judy Evans from Sorrento<br \/>\nThere were no runners up for this division owing to numbers.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nGORDON DAVIES FROM WERE WINES ATTENDED ON THE DAY TO PRESENT THE PRIZES AND WE WERE DELIGHTED HE WAS ABLE TO ATTEND.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThanks must go to Rose Linke\u00a0from Tennis West who attended and was lovely to see her and she took many photos on the day.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMichael Robertson\u00a0 C.E.O. from Tennis West put in his apologies as he was away in Melbourne.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThanks to a very hard working W.I.T.
