{"id":5803,"date":"2013-03-14T15:17:07","date_gmt":"2013-03-14T07:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=5803"},"modified":"2013-03-14T15:17:07","modified_gmt":"2013-03-14T07:17:07","slug":"ipswich-pro-tour-event-underway-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/03\/14\/ipswich-pro-tour-event-underway-this-weekend","title":{"rendered":"Ipswich Pro Tour event underway this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2013\/03\/14\/ipswich-pro-tour-event-underway-this-weekend\/attachment\/bojana-2\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5808\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5808\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2013\/03\/Bojana1-410x273.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Australian Pro Tour will travel to Queensland this week for the City of Ipswich Tennis International (16-24 March 2013) to be held at Ipswich Grammar Tennis Centre.<\/p>\n<p>After an unprecedented amount of rain over the past couple of months the tournament has been relocated from the clay courts at TFP Academy at George Alder Tennis Centre to the new hard courtvenue. Qualifying will begin on Saturday before the main draw commences on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis annual tournament is a hallmark event on the Ipswich sporting calendar and we\u2019re excited to be back again,\u201d said tournament director David Hearne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of the city\u2019s \u2018Festival of Tennis\u2019 the tournament offers up-and-coming players from Australia and around the world the opportunity to compete for a prize pool of $40,000 and their first world ranking points.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s $15,000 field, world No.224 James Duckworth (Gosford, NSW) will lead the Aussie charge.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old, who reached the second round at Australian Open 2013, will face stiff competition from a group of fellow countrymen including Dane Propoggia (East Lakes, NSW), Michael Look (Scarborough, Qld) and 2011 champion James Lemke (Camberwell, Vic).<\/p>\n<p>Headlining the $25,000 women\u2019s field will be Victoria\u2019s Olivia Rogowska (St Kilda, Vic) with Monique Adamczak (Sydney, NSW) and <strong>Bojana Bobusic<\/strong> (South Perth, WA) also flying the flag.<\/p>\n<p>A strong Japanese contingent including sisters Erika and Yurika Sema, Junri Namigata and Shuko Aoyama will compete in the women\u2019s draw as will a range of competitors from Thailand and Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale is looking forward to welcoming the tournament back for another year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIpswich is a strong sporting community and to have 160 high quality tennis players in town is a tremendous opportunity for the city,\u201d Pisasale said.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday 23 March the tournament will host a Festival of Tennis Fun Day from 9 am \u2013 12 pm.<\/p>\n<p>In between watching top quality tennis kids will be able to try MLC Tennis Hot Shots, watch a Cardio Tennis demonstration or have a go at Speed Serve.
