{"id":21793,"date":"2026-07-10T10:07:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T02:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=21793"},"modified":"2026-07-10T10:07:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T02:07:25","slug":"hunter-and-polmans-grateful-for-centre-court-opportunity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2026\/07\/10\/hunter-and-polmans-grateful-for-centre-court-opportunity","title":{"rendered":"Hunter and Polmans Grateful for Centre Court Opportunity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Despite losing Thursday\u2019s mixed doubles final, Storm Hunter and Marc Polmans relished the chance to compete on Wimbledon\u2019s most prestigious court.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Storm Hunter and Marc Polmans might have been on the wrong end of Thursday\u2019s Wimbledon mixed doubles final, but they will take plenty of positives from their Centre Court experience.<\/p>\n<p>One set away from becoming the first all-Australian duo to win the title since John Fitzgerald and Liz Smylie in 1991, Hunter and Polmans were outplayed by Jelena Ostapenko and Marcelo Arevalo in the final two sets.<\/p>\n<p>The No.2 seeds claimed a 4-6 7-5 6-2 victory, both securing their first Grand Slam mixed doubles crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite their defeat, the opportunity to play a Grand Slam final on Centre Court at the All-England Club was meaningful for Hunter and Polmans.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI honestly can\u2019t wipe the smile off my face. It\u2019s always tough to lose a match but to play on Centre Court here at Wimbledon, to be in the final with Marc here, a great friend, was amazing,\u201d Hunter told\u00a0<i>Stan Sport<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly loved every minute out there, we had an epic match. We had a little opportunity there but credit to our opponents, they kind of took it away from us and really took the momentum midway through that second set and rolled with it but loved every minute out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Hunter, the mixed doubles runners-up trophy concludes a successful return to the All-England Club.
