Western Australia has continued its resurgence on the national stage, building on its historic 2022 breakthrough Pizzey Cup victory\u2014the state\u2019s first in 25 years since 1997.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After lifting the title on home soil at the State Tennis Centre in 2022, WA went\u00a0on to secure another national triumph on the home grass courts of Alexander Park Tennis Club.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was the first time since 2022 that WA hosted the\u00a0week-long\u00a0tournament, taking full advantage of the home courts and crowd.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pizzey Cup is School Sport Australia\u2019s premier national schools team championship for 18 & Under players, featuring seven boys and seven girls from each state competing in a round-robin format. A unique and highly valued\u00a0component\u00a0of the event is its mixed doubles rubbers\u2014rare at national level\u2014which\u00a0emphasises\u00a0teamwork and unity across both genders.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An\u00a0All-Australian\u00a0Team is\u00a0also\u00a0selected based on performances throughout the week, with 10 boys and 10 girls recognised.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Showing our incredible depth,\u00a0WA had six players honoured, with Elena Manoj, Zayah Baker, Jasmin\u00a0Heapes\u00a0and Isabelle Criddle named in the\u00a0girls\u00a0team, alongside Nemanja Savic and Aidan Chan in the\u00a0boys\u00a0team.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The depth in talent and those recognised in the All-Australian team showed the strength of our local State League competitions with all eight WA representatives having played State League last season.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Running alongside the team event was the Australia Cup and Kevin Horrigan Plate, the individual singles competitions.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Australia Cup\u00a0girls\u00a0final featured an all-WA showdown, with third seed Zayah Baker claiming the title in a tight three-set match against Isabelle Criddle.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Suyash Masekar won the boys Kevin Horrigan Plate, while Sumner Royall was a finalist in the\u00a0girls\u00a0event.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, it was an outstanding result for WA junior tennis, with strong representation and success across multiple events, highlighting the depth of talent on the national stage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
