Tennis\u00a0West recently returned to Broome, delivering a powerful day of connection, inclusion and participation through sport that brought together schools, community\u00a0organisations\u00a0and sporting bodies from across the region.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The day saw\u00a016 key stakeholders\u00a0working alongside Tennis West to create meaningful and inclusive sporting experiences for local young people. These partners included the\u00a0Shire of Broome,\u00a0All Abilities Football WA,\u00a0Football Futures,\u00a0Netball WA,\u00a0Basketball WA,\u00a0Inclusion Solutions WA,\u00a0KAMS,\u00a0Garnduwa\u00a0Helping Minds, and\u00a0St Mary\u2019s College (Primary and Secondary).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Local schools also played a significant role, with students and staff attending from\u00a0Broome Senior High School,\u00a0Broome Primary School,\u00a0Cable Beach Primary School,\u00a0Roebuck Primary School,\u00a0Broome North Primary School,\u00a0Sacred Heart School Beagle Bay, and\u00a0One Arm Point Remote Community School.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In total,\u00a078 children from primary through to high school ages\u00a0actively\u00a0participated\u00a0across the day, experiencing a range of activities designed to promote fun,\u00a0movement\u00a0and inclusion through sport. The event was further supported by an incredible turnout of approximately\u00a050 teachers, highlighting the strong commitment from local education staff to ensure every student had the opportunity to take part.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The collaborative approach allowed participants to engage in tennis alongside exposure to other sports, reinforcing the message that sport can be accessible,\u00a0welcoming\u00a0and adaptable for all abilities. The day was a strong example of what can be achieved when community,\u00a0education\u00a0and sport\u00a0organisations\u00a0work together with a shared focus on inclusion.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To wrap up the visit, the Tennis West team also spent time at\u00a0Broome Tennis Club,\u00a0<\/span>visiting\u00a0<\/span>the club\u2019s\u00a0social tennis night. The visit\u00a0provided\u00a0a great opportunity\u00a0to connect directly with the local tennis community,\u00a0<\/span>hear about their successes and opportunities,\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0strengthen ties between Tennis West and one of the far north\u2019s most passionate tennis hubs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West\u00a0extends it\u00a0thanks to the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for their ongoing support through the regional servicing grant.\u00a0Tennis West would like to thank all stakeholders, schools,\u00a0teachers\u00a0and community members involved for their support and enthusiasm.\u00a0<\/span>In particular, the Shire of\u00a0Broome for\u00a0involving tennis to be part of this incredible day<\/span>.\u00a0Opportunities like these continue to reinforce the role sport can play in strengthening communities and creating inclusive pathways for young people across Western Australia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
