There are volunteers who help out when needed, and then there are people like Pam Muir<\/span><\/span>, whose presence quietly shapes the heart and soul of a club.<\/p>\n

At Blue Gum Park Tennis Club<\/span><\/span>, Pam has become something of a constant. Since joining in 2005 alongside her husband Kevin, she has given nearly two decades of continuous service, offering her time, energy and care in ways that extend far beyond any formal role. Whether it is preparing for a busy event, lending a hand in the kitchen, or stepping in wherever needed, Pam approaches every task with a sense of purpose that rarely goes unnoticed.<\/p>\n

Affectionately nicknamed \u201cMrs Gumption\u201d by a former Club President, it is a title that reflects not just her work ethic, but her attitude. Nothing is too big, too small, or too messy. More recently, she was proudly presented with a \u201cDogsbody\u201d name badge by the Club Captains, a lighthearted but sincere recognition of the countless behind the scenes contributions she continues to make.<\/p>\n

Pam\u2019s volunteering journey has spanned a wide range of roles, including Secretary of the Board of Management, Mid Week Ladies Captain, and multiple tenures as a committee member. As a long standing member of the Social Committee, she has played a central role in delivering countless club events, ensuring they are welcoming, well organised and, importantly, well catered. From tournaments and fundraising initiatives to weekly gatherings, Pam\u2019s touch is ever present. In fact, since joining the club, she has contributed to catering at every social function, often arriving early to set up and staying late to ensure everything runs smoothly. Even when she cannot attend in person, she still finds a way to contribute.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Pam\u2019s remarkable efforts were recognised with the club\u2019s Citizenship Award, a fitting acknowledgement of the impact she has had over many years. Yet, her influence goes beyond the tasks she completes. Pam has a natural ability to bring people together, fostering a sense of connection, inclusion and belonging among members and visitors alike. Her warmth and generosity help create an environment where people feel comfortable, valued and inspired to get involved.<\/p>\n

She embodies the spirit of the National Volunteer Week<\/span><\/span> theme, \u201cYour Year to Volunteer.\u201d Through her actions, she has encouraged others within the club to step forward, take on roles and contribute in their own way. It is not just about what she does, but the example she sets.<\/p>\n

For Pam, every year has been her year to volunteer. And through her dedication, she has helped make it possible for others to see that it can be theirs too.<\/p>\n

Tennis West is proud to recognise Pam Muir as Volunteer of the Month, celebrating not only her tireless contribution, but the lasting impact she continues to have on her club and community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
