Tennis West welcomed representatives from local and state government authorities\u00a0(LGA)\u00a0to the State Tennis Centre on Wednesday 11 February 2026 for the\u00a0organisation\u2019s\u00a0first\u2011ever Local & State Government Forum.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0forum\u00a0was\u00a0designed to strengthen cross\u2011sector partnerships and support the long\u2011term growth of tennis and complementary formats across Western Australia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum brought together more than 30 attendees from metropolitan and regional LGAs, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing community sport, improving facility planning, and expanding participation opportunities through new and emerging racquet sports.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Across the full\u2011day program, delegates engaged in strategic presentations, collaborative discussions and networking sessions focused on the WA Strategic Facilities Plan, local government action plans, and the integration of formats such as Padel, Pickleball, and Beach Tennis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West Head of\u00a0Operations,\u00a0Michelle Magdy,\u00a0highlighted the significance of bringing government partners together for the first time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was extremely pleased with the strong attendance at our first-ever LGA Forum. Bringing local and state governments on the tennis journey with us is key to transparency and a collaborative approach to supporting the continued success of tennis clubs across Western\u00a0Australia.\u201c<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe forum opened valuable conversations on key topics and\u00a0demonstrated the benefits of collaboration in community sport through high-quality engagement, networking and the passion that exists across WA\u2019s sporting community.\u201d\u00a0Said Michelle.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The morning sessions provided an update on the WA Strategic Facilities Plan and outlined how Tennis West and Tennis Australia will work alongside local governments to plan for the future of tennis infrastructure. Using government planning frameworks to support both clubs and local and state government, in future investment in the sport.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum also\u00a0showcased\u00a0game expansion initiatives, including insights into Padel with attendees invited to a site visit to a Padel facility to learn more about this globally emerging format.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With strong engagement throughout the day, the forum served as a platform for transparent dialogue, knowledge\u00a0sharing\u00a0and future-focused planning. Attendees from regional areas were supported through a live stream, ensuring the event included voices and perspectives from across the state.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West will continue to build on the momentum of the forum in the coming months, working closely with LGAs to strengthen planning frameworks, support local priorities, and deliver participation growth through both traditional and emerging racquet sports.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
