Rising West Aussie tennis star Tristan Schoolkate has been named as a finalist for the Sports West WA Sports Star\u00a0Award for 2025.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The nomination comes off the back of a\u00a0successful\u00a02025 campaign, reaching a ranking inside the top 100 for the first time in his career.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Schoolkate\u2019s\u00a0season started with a career best 2025 Australian Open campaign, where he made the second round of the\u00a0main draw and won a set against world No.1 and eventual champion Jannik Sinner in his Rod Laver Arena debut at Australian Open 2025, becoming the first to do so since October 2024.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat match was big for my confidence, for my belief. I always knew\u00a0i\u00a0could play some good tennis and test the best player, but to\u00a0literally do\u00a0so on the biggest stage at a grand slam, in front of a lot of people and having won the first\u00a0round was massive\u201d Schoolkate told the West Australian.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Schoolkate then backed up his early 2025 form winning Challenger titles at the Brisbane International and\u00a0Ilkley and\u00a0was a finalist in Guangzhou.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Schoolkate made his first ATP quarterfinal in Los Cabos in July 2025 after defeating fifth seed\u00a0Daniel Altmaier and\u00a0made the doubles final with Blake Bayldon. He also defeated Joao Fonseca in his Canadian Open main-draw debut in 2025.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He finished the year with a\u00a0second-round\u00a0result at the US Open where he defeated 2025 Australian Open quarter-finalist Lorenzo\u00a0Sonego\u00a0in a\u00a0five-set\u00a0battle.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Schoolkate is one of a dozen finalists for the award, with the winner to be announced at the annual WA Sport Awards on February 26.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West Official Rosario Corvaia<\/strong> was also nominated as a finalist for\u00a0The\u00a0ActiveXchange\u00a0Official of the Year Award which honours the individuals who uphold fairness, safety,\u00a0professionalism\u00a0and the spirit of sport at every level.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Corvaia\u00a0has officiated at the very pinnacle of world tennis, bringing precision and professionalism to the sport\u2019s most prestigious events. His\u00a0expertise\u00a0spans all four Grand Slam tournaments\u2014Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open\u2014where he has served in multiple roles including Chair Umpire, Line Umpire, and Review Official.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rosario\u2019s commitment to excellence has also been recognised at ATP Challengers, Davis Cup, and ITF events.
