After the\u00a0two week\u00a0hiatus due to the junior ITF\u2019s, State League and Junior State League returns\u00a0before the Christmas break.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where we left off:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the men\u2019s, Cottesloe jumped Mt Lawley to take top spot after Mt Lawley lost their first game of the season to Claremont. Cottesloe now\u00a0remain\u00a0the only side to be undefeated and\u00a0come\u00a0up against Alexander Park this round. There has also been plenty of movement lower down in the ladder with UWA climbing off the bottom after an impressive win in round\u00a05 against Alexander Park.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the women\u2019s, Cottesloe\u00a0has\u00a0barely put a foot wrong so far this season,\u00a0remaining\u00a0the only side undefeated. They will be tested this week with a massive clash against last\u00a0years\u00a0premiers\u00a0Hensman Park.\u00a0Dalkeith\u00a0hangs\u00a0onto third spot on the ladder but\u00a0are\u00a0closely followed by Royal Kings Park and UWA with only three points splitting the three sides.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Junior Boy\u2019s State League sees undefeated Reabold and UWA holding onto the top two spots\u00a0while Hensman Park and Cottesloe follow close behind. Just like the women\u2019s State League, Cottesloe\u00a0is\u00a0top of the table in the Girl\u2019s State League, close behind them on three wins is Mt\u00a0Lawley\u00a0and Mosman Park.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s State League Match of the Round:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cottesloe v Hensman Park\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saturday 6<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0December, 1pm, Cottesloe Tennis Club<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last time they met: Round 1, Cottesloe won 3-3 on\u00a0games.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In round 1 you\u00a0could almost\u00a0have\u00a0not\u00a0got\u00a0a\u00a0closer result\u00a0with Cottesloe winning by only three games. This match\u00a0could potentially be a preview for the final but more importantly decide who gets\u00a0the top\u00a0spot heading into\u00a0Christmas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The key to this fixture is\u00a0the doubles. Hensman Park\u00a0is\u00a0a strong doubles side, having not dropped a doubles match making them eight from eight.\u00a0The\u00a0key will be\u00a0in the singles rubbers, with regulars Ella Nurkic and Anja Dokic\u00a0both putting in strong performances so far this season.\u00a0While unsuccessful in both Junior ITF singles finals, Karin Hiramatsu has been in strong form and has played plenty of competitive tennis, making the finals of both Junior\u00a0ITF\u2019s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Cottesloe, Elena Manoj will be the key, having come off a big win in the Junior ITF final against Karin Hiramatsu.\u00a0She will be joined by Jessie Culley, who defeated Anja Dokic in round one in three sets. The depth of Cottesloe will also be the key as the\u00a0likes of Ksenija Vujacic, Nisha Whittome\u00a0and potential Alicia Molik all will be in line to play.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Men\u2019s State League Match of the Round:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

UWA v Claremont\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friday 5<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0December, 6pm, UWA Tennis Club<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last time they met: Round 1, Claremont won 5-1.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

UWA\u00a0host\u00a0the newly formed Claremont under lights on the clay courts of UWA Tennis Club. UWA have started to make their home games a fortress\u00a0this season so far, going 1-0 albeit with two matches washed out.\u00a0They are also coming off a tight win over Alexander Park\u00a0in round 5.\u00a0Ben Galvao has been the most impressive, winning two singles matches out of four while Ethan Reed and regular number one Archie\u00a0Brown\u00a0have won one\u00a0game each so\u00a0far this season.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Claremont has had an up and down season so far with wins over UWA and Mt\u00a0Lawley. The team will be tested on the clay courts\u00a0however\u00a0players such as Tim Gray and Hans Bustiman have both played State League\u00a0games for UWA in the past and their experience on clay could be key.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ethan Cook has been\u00a0the best this season, going undefeated in his two matches this season.\u00a0Sam Ashenden has also been impressive int he matches\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0played, winning two singles ties from two matches.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
