Perth is set to see a plethora of high-quality Tennis up close next month with some of Australia\u2019s best young talent and international players set to participate in the upcoming WA Open and Men\u2019s ITF M25 Perth Tennis International #1 and #2 events at the State Tennis Centre. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It all begins on Monday 22nd September with the WA Open, where some of the best WA men\u2019s and women\u2019s local talent will compete over five days.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The men\u2019s event in the WA Open is a 20K Signature Series and a lead in event to the Perth Tennis International ITF M25 #1 which begins a week later.\u00a0The winner of the men\u2019s singles will receive a wildcard entry into the main draw of the Perth Tennis International ITF M25 #1 while the finalist will receive a wildcard into the qualifying draw.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The WA Open is one of WA\u2019s premier amateur events on the calendar. Last year, Perth locals Alice Stevens and Hans Bustiman claimed the women\u2019s and men\u2019s singles titles against Mahta Khanloo and Casey Ambler respectively in a rain affected final.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Entries for the WA Open are open with both draws cut to 32 players in total. Entries close Friday 12 September.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tennis action intensifies a week later with the start of the two Men\u2019s ITF M25 Perth Tennis International \u00a0#1 and #2. The Australian Pro Tour represents a series of 30 professional ITF World Tennis Tour and ATP Challenger tournaments held annually, in Australia, over 15 weeks between September and April.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Australia, the Pro Tour calendar offers a total prize money pool of over US$1.4 million dollars annually providing players with a competitive pathway; all-important earning opportunities, and ATP\/WTA Tour world ranking points that facilitate a players livelihood as a professional player. The Calendar offers a range of different level tournaments to accommodate for professional players at different stages on the competitive pathway. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the resounding success of the W75 women\u2019s Pro Tour events in recent years, this year\u2019s tournament pivots to the Men\u2019s World Tennis Tour, offering a fresh platform for WA\u2019s emerging male talent to shine on home soil against international athletes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This transition follows a golden period for WA women\u2019s tennis, with Talia Gibson, Maddison Inglis, and Taylah Preston making waves on the international stage. Gibson captured headlines in 2024 by winning her first W75 Perth International title in a thrilling three-set final against Inglis then backing it up with a win the W75 Perth International #2.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, the spotlight turns to the men. The M25 event, offering USD$30,000 in prizemoney and\u00a0ATP World ranking points, will feature a 32-player singles main draw and a 16-team doubles draw. The event promises to be a showcase of WA\u2019s best male players, including <\/span>local <\/span>stars like Ethan Cook and Ashwin Sharma, and potentially junior talents in Jake Dembo and Sehun Park from the Tennis Australia National Academy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West CEO Olivia Birkett was excited about the prospect of welcoming some of the best up and coming talent from across the world.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOutside of the United Cup, the Perth Tennis International ITF M25 will be the biggest professional tennis tournament in WA this calendar year.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe shift to men\u2019s after two years of the women\u2019s ITF Pro Tour tournaments not only diversifies the professional opportunities available in WA but also builds on the momentum created by the women\u2019s tour.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBy giving male players, a chance to compete at home in a high-stakes international event, Tennis West continues to foster a balanced and inclusive pathway for all athletes.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Entry is free for all spectators, and the cafe will be open for each day of the competition of the WA Open and Perth International ITF M25\u2019s. <\/span><\/p>\n

The event is also an important opportunity for the selected United Cup Ball Kids to gain valuable match experience ahead of the United Cup in January 2026.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
