With Term 1 well underway Western Australia\u2019s largest tennis participation tournament containing over 1,200 players from both metro and country regions in WA, the Fuel to Go and Play Schools Tennis Classic, supported by Kinetic and Maxiblock has been running throughout the months of February and March.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual event run by Tennis West and School Sport WA with the support from Kinetic, Maxiblock, and Healthway promoting the Fuel to Go and Play message, was founded in 1935. The event is for primary and secondary schools across metro and regional areas that compete in local play-off teams-based events with the regional competitions held across the Great Southern, Upper Great Southern, Central Districts, Eastern Districts and Southwest zones.<\/p>\n

Tennis West\u2019s Schools and Pathways Officer South, Radu Vaidean said he was impressed with this year\u2019s edition of the tournament and highlighted the\u00a0numbers in participation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Fuel to Go and Play Schools Tennis Classic in 2025 has been huge success across both metro and regional WA, showcasing great talent with an increased number of total players, teams and schools compared to previous years.\u201d<\/p>\n

“We are proud to support a pathway that enables students to compete and represent their schools at local clubs through this prestigious event. It continues to showcase the significance of the classroom-to-clubhouse model. Tennis West would also like to extend a special thank you to Andrea Rundle, Davina Biglin, Shannon Slade, and Royce Puccinelli for their invaluable contributions to making this year\u2019s events a success.”<\/p>\n

There is still more to come this month with the finals scheduled in the rest of the month to come:<\/p>\n

The girls Slazenger Cup Final will be held in conjunction with the Mursell Shield event, this Thursday, 13th March at Alexander Park Tennis Club. The Boys Slazenger Cup Final is a Secondary School event and will take place on Monday March 18th at the State Tennis Centre. It is a singles and doubles team event for upper Secondary School students dating back to 1914. Played with yellow tennis balls, on a full- sized court. Applecross Senior High School has been most dominant, winning every year in the boy\u2019s and girl\u2019s competitions since 2018.<\/p>\n

To wrap up the Schools Classic season, on Friday, 21st March the Country Academy Plate Final will feature the best Primary Schools in country WA at the State Tennis Centre. All winners and runner-up teams of regional Academy Plate play-off events are invited to compete at the Academy Plate Country Finals event in Perth, to be crowned overall Country Champion. It is a singles and doubles mixed team event for Primary School students, played with modified balls on a full-sized court.<\/p>\n

The Tennis West Fuel to Go and Play Schools Tennis Classic is brought to you by major partner Healthway through Fuel to Go in association with Kinetic, Maxiblock Sunscreen and regionally with D\u2019Arcy Slater Foundation taking place from Wednesday the 19th\u00a0of February to Friday 21st of March.<\/p>\n
