{"id":20335,"date":"2024-11-11T12:51:20","date_gmt":"2024-11-11T04:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=20335"},"modified":"2024-11-11T12:52:11","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T04:52:11","slug":"local-players-set-to-compete-in-upcoming-perth-itf-j30-junior-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2024\/11\/11\/local-players-set-to-compete-in-upcoming-perth-itf-j30-junior-championships","title":{"rendered":"Local Players Set to Compete in upcoming Perth ITF J30 Junior Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The final lists for the Perth ITF J30 Junior Championship #1 have been finalised with the top seeds from the boy&#8217;s and girl&#8217;s competition both West Australian locals.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>The ITF J30 Perth Championships\u00a0is a tournament for players aged 18 and under with the aim to improve competitive opportunities and help develop players&#8217; skills.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the boy&#8217;s competition, West Aussie <strong>Luka Vujacic<\/strong> goes into the draw as the top ranked player with a junior ITF ranking of 675. Vujacic currently plays for Royal Kings Park Tennis Club in the Men&#8217;s State League competition and goes into the tournament with competitive matches under his belt having played in the number two spot in State League against two quality men&#8217;s players in Tim Gray and Will Hann. Last year, Vujacic made it to the final of the 2023 ITF J30 Perth International #2, succumbing to Victorian Ymerali Ibraimi.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also playing in the boy&#8217;s singles draw are State League players <strong>George Diable, Benjamin Galvao and Nemanja Savic.<\/strong> Galvao (UWA) and Savic (Alexander Park) have both lined up for their clubs in the Men&#8217;s State League competition with Galvao getting the better of Savic when the two lined up against each other in round three.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the women&#8217;s competition, the top three seeds will all reside from WA with last year&#8217;s winner and number one ranked player <strong>Alice Stevens<\/strong> returning to defend her title. Stevens had an impressive run in last year&#8217;s tournament, winning the ITF J30 Perth International #1 and finishing as a finalist in the #2 tournament. Stevens has had an impressive year, regularly playing State League as the number #1 and #2 seed and coming off a singles win in the WA Open.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Sara Nikolic<\/strong> comes into the tournament as the second ranked player. Nikolic has also had an impressive season, playing against some of the best and most experienced local tennis talent in the state. Nikolic has lined up in the number one seed for Royal Kings Park in the Women&#8217;s State League. Nikolic also made the semi-final of the WA Open women&#8217;s singles in September, narrowly going down.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The women&#8217;s competition will also see State League players like <strong>Jana Ruzic<\/strong> (Alexander Park), <strong>Sunny Youn<\/strong> (Peppermint Grove), <strong>Amy Findlay<\/strong> (Peppermint Grove), <strong>Kendal Macdonald<\/strong> (Alexander Park), <strong>Elena Manoj<\/strong> (Cottesloe) and <strong>Karin Hiramatsu<\/strong> (Hensman Park).<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The ITF J30 Perth Championship #1 begins today with qualifying matches and the main draw starting on Wednesday.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>ITF Junior World ranking points earned by Australian&#8217;s are converted each month and calculated for their Australian ranking.
