Matt Ebden\u2019s dream to become the first Australian to progress to a men\u2019s doubles final at Roland Garros in 24 years unfortunately didn’t come true this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 36-year-old from Perth and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna suffered their first Grand Slam loss of the season, bowing out in the men\u2019s doubles semifinals.<\/p>\n

In a rematch of this year\u2019s Australian Open final, Italians Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori turned the tables to record a\u00a07-5 2-6 6-2 victory.<\/p>\n

This ends a career-best run Ebden in Paris.<\/p>\n

The result however\u00a0reclaimed the coveted world No.1 position for\u00a0 Ebden in the latest\u00a0ATP Tour doubles rankings<\/a>. This sees Ebden return to the top spot for the third time this season.<\/p>\n
