The 2023 D\u2019Arcy Slater and Women in Tennis (WIT) Foundation Cup wrapped up last week for both the team and individual events. <\/strong><\/p>\n

A total of 92 players from all over the state participated in the event with players from the Southwest and Lower Great Southern Regions featuring prominently.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Women in Tennis Foundation Cup camp featured 20 girls led by WA Women in Girls Coordinator\u00a0Tamieka Whitefield, as well as\u00a0Natalie Lama and Alana Miles.<\/p>\n

In the Boy\u2019s D\u2019Arcy Slater Cup, Southwest Boys prevailed in a close contest winning by six games over Lower Great Southern. In the Girls Women in Tennis Foundation Cup, it was Lower Great Southern Girls getting the win over Southwest Girls team.<\/p>\n

The Midwest Region lead by local players Clifton Bass and Mitchell Dorant from Tarcoola Tennis Club took home the boys teams division one consolation event.<\/p>\n

In the prestigious individual event of the D\u2019Arcy Slater Cup, last year\u2019s winner Denby Sharpe from Albany prevailed over Dunsborough\u2019s Fletcher Braddock.<\/p>\n

In the girl\u2019s WIT Foundation Cup, it was a repeat of the 2022 Final with Tea Zizek from Albany reversing the outcome and overcoming Alifaye Gidgup from Brunswick Junction.<\/p>\n

It was great to see the community support in one of the largest regional tennis events in Western Australia from the Geraldton Tennis Club and local coaches Jarron Kretschmann, Natalie Lama and Tennis West Schools and Pathways Officer Midwest \u2013 Danny Bowen.<\/p>\n
