Last Friday, 16 girls aged from 8 \u2013 11 years old participated in the inaugural Super 10\u2019s Girls Camp at the State Tennis Centre.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Held alongside the Professional Women\u2019s ITF Event. The one-day camp is designed to build tennis skills, ignite girls\u00a0passion for tennis and provide girls\u00a0with a unique and memorable experience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a wonderful opportunity for girls to learn and train under the guidance of professional coaches and gain insights into the world of women’s tennis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coaches included National Women and Girls Lead Christina Ladyman and National Development Squad Coaches Marisa Gianotti and Charlotte Connon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the day, the girls were engaged in activities designed to foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a deeper understanding of the game. Participants got the chance to witness live matches from the professional women’s tennis event, allowing them to observe the techniques and strategies employed by the world’s best players.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants also got the opportunity to meet with young WA players Lily Fairclough and Perth ITF Pro Tour #2 Singles Champion Taylah Preston.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West Women\u2019s and Girls Coordinator Tamieka Whitefield saw it as a\u00a0great opportunity for the Super 10\u2019s girls to work in teams and develop an understanding of specific doubles formations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA highlight of the day was the chance for the girls to speak with both Lily Fairclough and Taylor Preston. They gave an insight to the girls about what a regular day of training looks like, travelling and how they balance both school and tennis.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI thoroughly enjoyed watching the teamwork and friendships built throughout the day,\u201d said Tamieka.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This Camp has been initiated as part of the Women and Girls strategy, in collaboration with the Talent Team and is exclusively for Super 10\u2019s girls.\u00a0 The camp is subsidised by Tennis Australia through an Australian Sports Commission federal government grant.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
