Tennis clubs and centres throughout Western Australia will benefit from increased funding for upgrades, with an additional $7.5 million per year over the next two years funded in the 2023-24 State Budget.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The uplift in funding means the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) will increase to $20 million for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 financial years, up from $12.5 million per year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Funding is also available to improve sports flood lighting through the Club Night Lights Program. There will be $22.5 million in combined funding available per annum through the CSRFF and the Club Night Lights Program for the next 2 years. The programs are administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2022-23 funding round, a total of 14 tennis facilities in Western Australia received over $1.6 million.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tenterden Tennis Club was one of the tennis facilities successful in receiving CSRFF funding. Tenterden Tennis Club Secretary Sonia Addis highlighted how vital the CSRFF funding was to clubs in accessing much needed funds to successfully achieve major infrastructure projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe CSRFF funding has provided our small regional club the opportunity to rebuild four of our six courts with the project underway and due for completion in late spring.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe completed a club survey and strategic plan with the help of the Shire of Cranbrook and Tennis West to provide the necessary information for the CSRFF application. The information gained from the survey and strategic plan assists the club on many levels and provides a framework to apply for other grants including the NCRS with Tennis Australia.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The CSRFF scheme strengthens relationships between clubs, local government, and Tennis West, who are important alliances for the success of any tennis club,\u201d said Sonia.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West Head of Operations Olivia Birkett acknowledged the wonderful funding support from the WA Government, through its CSRFF and CNLP funding rounds.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese grants provide a reason for our tennis clubs to work closely with their respective Local Governments to ensure both financial and ongoing support of our sport. At the core of these grants, are the dedicated club volunteers who spend such a large amount of time and energy on these projects.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
