The first Alternative Format Forum open to both north and south metropolitan clubs was held at the State Tennis Centre on Tuesday evening, 28th March.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 50 participants from across the metropolitan region suited up in their tennis attire and participated in each of the formats on offer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Alternative Format Forum designed to be a fun and inclusive on court experience gave committee and club members of local metropolitan tennis clubs an opportunity to network with other club people and get on court to try new formats.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The formats on display were Pop Tennis, Beach Tennis, Padel, Pickleball and a nice Cardio work out included just for fun.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tennis West Head of Tennis South Michelle Magdy highlighted the need for clubs to diversify and think outside the square to generate additional income to support their long-term sustainability.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith Pop, and Padel coming in under the Tennis Australia banner, it\u2019s a good chance for clubs to get a taste and feel of the different formats they can offer to cater to all demographics within their community.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTaking a unique approach and appealing to all in a welcome, safe and inclusive manner is a key focus for Tennis West and all clubs.” Said Magdy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A burrito bowl for dinner from Fuel to Go & Play was provided for all participants and Healthway Senior Project Officer Shannon Wright gave a brief overview of the Healthy Club Program Grant currently available for sporting clubs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Healthy Sports Program has been designed to assist local sporting clubs and district associations provide young players with the food and drinks they need to perform at their best.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the Program, sports clubs and district associations can apply for up to $4,000 in funding to implement healthy eating initiatives and improve canteen facilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
