{"id":18213,"date":"2023-01-31T16:28:41","date_gmt":"2023-01-31T08:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=18213"},"modified":"2023-01-31T16:28:56","modified_gmt":"2023-01-31T08:28:56","slug":"wa-players-results-at-the-2023-australian-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2023\/01\/31\/wa-players-results-at-the-2023-australian-open","title":{"rendered":"WA Players Results at the 2023 Australian Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>There was plenty of WA flavour and some personal best results at the 2023 Australian Open. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A total of 12 players from Western Australia competed across all singles and doubles draws including two juniors who played in their first Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p>21-year-old Tristan Schoolkate was a standout amongst the WA men, achieving a personal best Australian Open result, advancing to the final round of the Men\u2019s Qualifying Singles. Schoolkate was unable to advance to the Men\u2019s Singles main draw going down to Jan-Lennard Struff 6-1, 6-4.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s, 18-year-old Talia Gibson, who was named Female Junior Athlete of the Year at the recent Australian Tennis Awards, began the 2022 well outside the top 1,000 but soared to a career high mark of world No.342 earning her a wildcard spot in the women\u2019s singles main draw.
