{"id":18102,"date":"2022-12-13T12:50:20","date_gmt":"2022-12-13T04:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=18102"},"modified":"2022-12-21T16:08:50","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:08:50","slug":"united-cup-perth-schedule-is-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2022\/12\/13\/united-cup-perth-schedule-is-out","title":{"rendered":"United Cup &#8211; Perth Schedule is Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After a two-year hiatus, tennis returns to Perth this summer with the launch of the United Cup.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s best players will unite to compete side by side at the United Cup, a stunning new team event set to launch the global tennis season in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The United Cup, an ATP-WTA event presented in partnership with Tennis Australia, will showcase equality at the highest level of the sport, with mixed teams from 18 countries competing across Brisbane, Perth and Sydney over 11 days, from Thursday 29 December to Sunday 8 January 2023.<\/p>\n<p>From 29 December to 4 January, this mixed teams event will showcase the best of tennis, day and night, live in Perth.<\/p>\n<p>The power and passion of team competition will come to life as the players unite to represent their countries with national pride and USD $15 million in prize money on the line. In a world first for a mixed team event, 500 Pepperstone ATP Rankings and WTA rankings points are also up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>Each city will host two groups of three countries, competing in a round-robin format, with ties comprising two ATP and two WTA singles matches, and one mixed doubles match. Each City Final winner will advance to the United Cup Final Four in Sydney (6-8 January), with the next best performing team from the group stages completing the quartet.<\/p>\n<p>Team Greece in Group A will headline the Perth schedule with world number four Stefanos Tsitsipas and women\u2019s world number six Maria Sakkari teaming up. Former world number three Grigor Dimitrov opens the event on Thursday, 29<sup>th<\/sup> December in one of the best match up\u2019s against Greece\u2019s Stefanos Tsitsipas.<\/p>\n<p>Belgium in Group A features former women\u2019s doubles world number one Elise Mertens and former world number seven David Goffin.<\/p>\n<p>Group F consists of France, Argentina and Croatia and looks to showcase some entertaining matches with France\u2019s world number 42 Arthur Rinderknech up against Argentina\u2019s world number 21 Diego Schwartzman on Thursday night, 29<sup>th<\/sup> December.<\/p>\n<p>The top teams from each group will then play off in the city final on Wednesday, 4<sup>th<\/sup> January.<\/p>\n<p>Be part of the action and get set to see tennis in a whole new light.
