{"id":17527,"date":"2022-04-28T10:56:30","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T02:56:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=17527"},"modified":"2022-04-28T11:07:43","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T03:07:43","slug":"wa-rising-star-talia-gibson-takes-aussie-talent-to-thailand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2022\/04\/28\/wa-rising-star-talia-gibson-takes-aussie-talent-to-thailand","title":{"rendered":"WA Rising Star Talia Gibson takes Aussie talent to Thailand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seventeen-year-old WA rising star Talia Gibson put on an outstanding performance in Thailand over the last week at the ITF Women\u2019s World Tennis Tour W15 Chiang Rai, finishing runner up in her maiden ITF singles final and taking out her maiden ITF Doubles title!<\/p>\n<p>Talia\u2019s talent and determination was in full force during qualifying and main draw matches, hitting her way to the final against Thailand\u2019s Luksika Kumkhum, ultimately defeated 6-0, 6-1. Despite Thailand\u2019s challenging heat and humidity and competing against players more than 10 years her senior, Talia won all three qualifying matches, making her way to the main draw where she only dropped one set during the four matches leading up to the final.<\/p>\n<p>Talia brought home the Doubles title as she and fellow Australian teenager Catherine Aulia defeated Chinese duo YeXin Ma and Fang Ying Xun 6-3, 7-6(5) after coasting through all matches without dropping a set.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17524\" style=\"width: 522px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17524\" class=\"wp-image-17524 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/files\/2022\/04\/EWRG8944.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"384\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17524\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Talia Gibson (L) with Doubles partner Catherine Aulia<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Talia will then travel back to Perth before heading to Brisbane for a three-week training block and then travelling on to California to compete in several tournaments.
