{"id":17514,"date":"2022-04-27T10:10:42","date_gmt":"2022-04-27T02:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=17514"},"modified":"2022-04-28T15:44:40","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T07:44:40","slug":"2022-sunsmart-schools-tennis-classic-wraps-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2022\/04\/27\/2022-sunsmart-schools-tennis-classic-wraps-up","title":{"rendered":"2022 SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic wraps up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The end of March saw the wrap up of the 2022 SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic and students from all around WA hit the courts for the finals.<\/p>\n<p>Running since 1935, the SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic sees a range of teams from across WA participate in a series of interschool events throughout Term 1 in a bid to qualify for the finals.<\/p>\n<p>The Classic involves the Slazenger Cup (Years 7-12), Herbert Edwards Cup (Years 7-9) and Academy Plate (Years 3-6) and allows a diverse range of players to showcase their skills on court and represent their school.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis West\u2019s <strong>Schools and Pathways Coordinator Radu Vaidean<\/strong> said the SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic allows young players to experience the nature of competitive tennis, in a fun and supportive environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite a few disruptions with COVID-19, we were so pleased to be able to deliver this year\u2019s SunSmart Schools Tennis Classic to such enthusiastic, energetic and talented players,\u201d said Radu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were extremely impressed not only by the high quality tennis but also the sportsmanship, team spirit and supportiveness shown by the students both on and off the court.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event is a fantastic opportunity for students to be part of a team and represent their school and creates deeper engagement with the sport as well as driving the transition from classroom to clubhouse,&#8221;
