{"id":14549,"date":"2019-08-14T14:14:33","date_gmt":"2019-08-14T06:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=14549"},"modified":"2019-08-16T14:15:47","modified_gmt":"2019-08-16T06:15:47","slug":"tennis-league-general-bye-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2019\/08\/14\/tennis-league-general-bye-announcement","title":{"rendered":"Tennis League General Bye Announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tennis West<\/strong> is pleased to announce that to coincide with the upcoming <strong>Fed Cup Final<\/strong> being held at RAC Arena, <strong>a general bye<\/strong> has been set for all Tennis League matches over the weekend of<strong> November 9 and 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With recent World number one<strong> Ashleigh Barty<\/strong> set to headline the Finals campaign when <strong>Australia<\/strong> takes to the court against <strong>France<\/strong>, the general bye will ensure all West Australian tennis enthusiasts are given the opportunity to witness world class tennis right here in Perth.<\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s top performing females will head into the two-day Final championed by WA\u2019s own and <strong>Fed Cup Captain Alicia Molik<\/strong>, with the team looking to secure Australia\u2019s 8th Fed Cup title.<\/p>\n<p>Having won the title in <strong>1964, 1965, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1973<\/strong>, the stakes are high for Australia\u2019s top performing females as they attempt to recreate the same result as tennis icon <strong>Evonne Goolagong<\/strong>, who joined <strong>Dianne Fromholtz<\/strong> and <strong>Janet Young<\/strong> to win Australia\u2019s last Fed Cup title in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>The November final guarantees to be hotly contested with the French team claiming the 1997 and 2003 Fed Cup title alongside being crowned the 2004, 2005 and 2016 runner up.
