{"id":14385,"date":"2019-07-04T11:03:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-04T03:03:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=14385"},"modified":"2019-07-12T08:52:24","modified_gmt":"2019-07-12T00:52:24","slug":"anz-serves-up-10k-community-grant-to-mount-lawley-tc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2019\/07\/04\/anz-serves-up-10k-community-grant-to-mount-lawley-tc","title":{"rendered":"ANZ serves up $10K community grant to Mount Lawley TC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was all smiles for\u00a0\u00a0Eren (5), Harvey (5), McCarthy (5), Brody (6), Emily (5), Noah (3) and outgoing Mt Lawley Club President Simone Firns when\u00a0ANZ Mount Lawley Branch Manager, Lisa McGrath and Small Business Specialist, Vyoma Mehta, handed over a cheque for $10,000.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mount Lawley Tennis Club<\/strong> juniors were all smiles this week when they happily accepted a $10,000 cheque from <strong>ANZ Mount Lawley Branch Manager, Lisa McGrath<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The club was the second WA tennis club to be awarded the funds through the <strong>ANZ Tennis Hot Shots community grant program<\/strong> in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The much needed funds will go towards the installation of spectator shading set to improve the tennis experience for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing <strong>Mount Lawley TC President Simone Firns<\/strong> said the club had an incredibly strong junior program and that the installation of spectator shading had been on the Board\u2019s agenda for quite some time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board have been wanting to install spectator shading for quite some time now,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur junior program is incredibly strong and they come with a very supportive spectator base which includes parents, grandparents and siblings,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely been a priority of the club to improve the spectator experience and the ANZ community grant has been instrumental in making this a reality for the club,\u201d Firns said.<\/p>\n<p>Finding out about the ANZ community grant through the monthly Tennis West newsletter, Firns says the application process was very straight forward. Furthermore, Firns states that the club is incredibly grateful for the support of ANZ through the community grant program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many grant applications are unbelievably labour intensive,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ANZ community grant application took no time at all,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was able to complete the application independently which made the process so much easier,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was at work when I got the call from ANZ to say that the club had been successful, I was over the moon,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnowing that we could finally install the much needed shading was such a win for the club,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt this project would have been realised without the generosity of the ANZ community grant,\u201d said Firns.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the initiative, ANZ Mount Lawley Branch Manager, Lisa McGrath said;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re excited to present Mount Lawley TC with this ANZ Tennis Hot Shots community grant. The club is a wonderful part of our community and are a great supporter of grass roots tennis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley<\/strong> is grateful for the sustained commitment ANZ provide to grassroots tennis in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for ANZ\u2019s ongoing support of tennis and the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program and their commitment to growing the game from the grassroots level up. We\u2019re excited for Mount Lawley Tennis Club and we know they will make the most of this wonderful opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>20 tennis clubs or venues from around the country were awarded grants through the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots community grants program.
