{"id":14337,"date":"2019-06-25T10:23:15","date_gmt":"2019-06-25T02:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=14337"},"modified":"2019-07-08T15:18:29","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T07:18:29","slug":"wimbledon-junior-debut-for-was-tristan-schoolkate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2019\/06\/25\/wimbledon-junior-debut-for-was-tristan-schoolkate","title":{"rendered":"Wimbledon Junior debut for WA\u2019s Tristan Schoolkate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WA\u2019s <strong>Tristan Schoolkate<\/strong> will make his debut appearance at <strong>The Junior Championships<\/strong> when the Wimbledon junior event commences on <strong>Saturday, July 6. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cementing Schoolkate\u2019s dominance on the junior circuit, the Scarborough young gun will step on court at The All England Lawn Tennis Club with an <strong>ITF Junior career high ranking of 44.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Schoolkate will no doubt look to follow in the footsteps of newly crowned world number 1, <strong>Ashleigh Barty<\/strong>, who won the Wimbledon junior event in 2011 when she was just 15 years old.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contributing to Schoolkate\u2019s acceptance to the Wimbledon Junior event and recent rankings rise has been his success on the European junior\u2019s circuit over the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Singles<\/strong> winner at the <strong>J2 Prato<\/strong> (Italy) saw Schoolkate overcame the number one seed Youcef Rihane in the Semi Final before going on to beat Spaniard Max Alcala Gurri 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to claim the Singles title. Schoolkate\u2019s win at the J2 Prato lands him in fine company, with the honour board of the prestigious tournament boasting the likes of <strong>Roger Federer<\/strong> (1997) and <strong>Andy Murray<\/strong> (2003).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the<strong> Doubles<\/strong> of the <strong>Grade A<\/strong> event in <strong>Milan<\/strong>, Italy, Schoolkate teamed up with fellow Australian <strong>Dane Sweeny<\/strong> (24). The pair won through a tough Semi Final\u2019s match 6-7 (5), 7-6 (2) [10-3] against top ranked junior players Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune (2) and Martin Damm (6). The duo went on to win the Final 6-4, 7-6 (3) over Thiago Agustin Tirante (5) and Admir Kalender (68).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Schoolkate was a <strong>Quarterfinalist<\/strong> in both the <strong>Singles and Doubles<\/strong> events in <strong>Salsomaggiore<\/strong> (Italy), was a <strong>Doubles Quarterfinalist<\/strong> in the J1 Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Italy) and in the <strong>J2 Istres<\/strong> (France), Schoolkate finished as a <strong>Singles Quarterfinalist<\/strong> and <strong>Doubles Semi Finalist<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>European success aside, Schoolkate and doubles partner Dane Sweeny won the <strong>Doubles Final<\/strong> of the <strong>J1 Nonthaburi<\/strong> (Thailand) in a three set tie break 6-2, 3-6 (10-7) with Schoolkate finishing as a <strong>Quarterfinalist<\/strong> in the <strong>Singles<\/strong> event.
