WA\u2019s Maddison Inglis\u00a0<\/strong>has returned home victorious after winning her first ITF Singles<\/strong> title in Nonthaburi, Thailand<\/strong>. The convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over local player Peangtarn Plipuech<\/strong> (THA) is expected to rocket the rising star\u2019s WTA ranking to an all-time high of 240 once rankings are reset following the French Open.<\/p>\n

Inglis, who didn\u2019t drop a set all tournament, proved her dominance on the court with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the Semi-Finals and 6-4, 6-2 win in the Quarters.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Hitting the court in eleven national and international tournaments since the beginning of the year, Inglis has been a notable mover in the rankings, jumping 43 spots to a career-high ranking of No.271 after progressing to the semifinals of the $80K ITF tournament in Gifu, Japan in early May.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Inglis qualified for the main draw and won five straight matches; it took former world No.31 Zarina Diyas to stop her in three sets.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The unseeded Inglis also made the Singles Final of the Hong Kong W25 ITF<\/strong> in April, where she finished Runner Up, taking out the first, third and fifth seed along the way.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Inglis\u2019 on court persistence throughout 2018 and 2019 has seen her shave more than 100 points from her ranking since the beginning of 2019. Inglis\u2019 current ranking sits at 271.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Inglis credits the recent success of other Australian women competing well on the world stage to the change in her own performance, stating that their success has given her the encouragement and motivation to keep working on her game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the past I was a little bit complacent about my performance, I\u2019m not that sort of player anymore,\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m no longer content with just doing OK, I just want to keep getting better and better\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so much more driven and focussed,\u201d said Inglis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Inglis says that winning her first ITF Singles title in Thailand is a great reward for the months and years of hard work, which has been further realised with the improvement to her rankings rise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been working at improving my ranking for some time now, it\u2019s been a big goal of mine and I\u2019m really happy with how I\u2019ve performed over the past 12 months,\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cKnowing that my ranking is set to improve even further when they reset after the French Open is really exciting, I couldn\u2019t be happier,\u201d said Inglis.<\/p>\n

Inglis travels to London later this week to compete in the Surbiton, Manchester and Ikley Trophy Tournaments, which commence on 3 June 2019.<\/p>\n
