The funds, which were made available through the Sport Australia, Community Sport Infrastructure Grant Program, will contribute more than 75% of the costs of resurfacing the club\u2019s six existing courts, a project with a total cost estimated at $196,460.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In meeting the total costs of the project, the Shire of Mundaring will contribute an additional $21,000, with the Mundaring TC funding the remaining $25,000 to ensure the realisation of the much needed facility upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The installation of Laykold Masters Gel surfacing to the club\u2019s six courts will provide competition grade playing conditions for players who have spent years competing on repurposed basketball courts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Hon Ken Wyatt MP is proud to be involved in delivering projects that benefit the health and wellbeing of the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMundaring Tennis Club is a perfect example of a local community group that is passionate about the health and wellbeing of its members. I am proud to have fought for and then delivered the local Mundaring community these improved sporting facilities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding for Mundaring Tennis Club is just one component in a much larger campaign I have run to ensure Mundaring locals have the facilities and the infrastructure they need to thrive.\u201d Mr Wyatt said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Treasurer of the Mundaring TC, Mr Barry Roff says the Sport Australia funding will change the playing experience for everyone who takes to the new courts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new cushioned courts will ensure our senior members can play for longer, whilst our junior players will have the added benefit of playing on competition grade courts,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout the availability of Sport Australia Grants, as well as the ongoing support of the Shire and Member for Hasluck, major projects like this just wouldn\u2019t happen,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a win-win for everybody. The benefit to the wider community can\u2019t be underestimated,\u201d Mr Roff said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project, which is set to commence in May, with an estimated completion date of February 2020, will further complement the club\u2019s extensive developments over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the resurfacing project, Mundaring Tennis Club has installed competition grade LED court lighting, renovated the club house and installed Tennis Australia\u2019s Book-a-Court technology to ensure online court hire accessibility to the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club has been well supported with financing a variety of developments over the past 12 months\u201c Mr Roff said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe LED court lighting project, which means we can now play under competition grade lighting, was worth $176, 313,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe club received a significant grant from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for $150,000 with the remaining costs of the project covered by the Shire of Mundaring,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recent installation of the Book-a-Court technology is a game changer. It removes the hassle of accessing the courts providing easy access to members, social players and the wider community,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFunding from the Tennis Australia National Court Rebate (NCR) program assisted the clubs finance of the Book-a-Court project worth approximately $16,000,\u201d Mr Roff said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the club\u2019s recent infrastructure developments, and in looking to bolster the club as a premier tennis facility servicing the Hill\u2019s community, future capital improvement projects anticipated for inclusion include a hitting wall, additional club house upgrades, an external toilet facility and a noise reduction barrier.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the club\u2019s strong understanding of the community\u2019s needs, Tennis West Places to Play Manager, Mr Graeme Hall says that the club has been governed by the solid foundations of a strategic business plan that aligns directly with that of the Tennis West direction.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMundaring TC have proven just how important it is to understand the needs and wants of the community,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn doing so, the club were able to develop a strategic business plan, proving its worth through the delivery of significant infrastructure upgrade projects worth over $350,000,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat stands now, is a community set to reap the benefits of the club\u2019s realistic and appropriate development of the clubs facilities and venues,\u201d Mr Hall said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Sport Aus Community Sport Infrastructure Funding supports small to medium scale projects up to $500,000 to improve local community sport infrastructure which will support greater community participation in sport and physical activity and\/or offer safer and more inclusive community sporting hubs.
