Showcasing past and present champions, rising stars, tournament officials, coaches and club committee members, WA\u2019s caliber of <strong>ACEgirls<\/strong> is nothing short of world class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rolling out over the next 12 months, <strong>ACEgirls<\/strong> will celebrate West Australia\u2019s standout women with a monthly profile poster and fact sheet.\u00a0 Highlighting individual achievements, successes both on and off the court, alongside amazing feats of commitment and dedication, <strong>ACEgirls<\/strong> stands to deliver you the very best of WA\u2019s tennis legends.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As such, it gives Tennis West great pleasure in announcing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtatennis.com\/players\/player\/319696\/title\/Astra-Sharma\">Astra Sharma<\/a> as our inaugural <strong>ACEgirl<\/strong>. Coming off Astra\u2019s impressive Australian Open campaign where she sliced her WTA ranking from 230 to 160, the decision was simple.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Forging her way through <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/articles\/match-report\/sharma-sends-zvonareva-packing\">qualifying<\/a> and into her <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/articles\/match-report\/sharma-main-draw-after-qualifying-thriller\">debut Grand Slam<\/a>, Astra went on to beat fellow Aussie, Pricilla Hon, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/articles\/interviews\/astra-sharma-1r-interview\">first round<\/a> match before bowing out to World number 41, Maria Sakkari (6-1, 6-4) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/search?search=astra+sharma#!?g=video-99161-79077&amp;s=slide-1\">second round.<\/a> Regardless, Astra\u2019s phenomenal AO ride, was only just beginning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Partnering with QLD\u2019s John-Patrick Smith as Wildcard entrants in the AO Mixed Doubles event, the pair secured a place in the Final, beating <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/search?search=astra+sharma#!?g=video-120396-83782&amp;s=slide-1\">Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jamie Murray (6-4, 7-6)<\/a> in the quarters before stamping out the number two seeds, <a href=\"https:\/\/ausopen.com\/search?search=astra+sharma#!?g=video-121536-56819&amp;s=slide-1\">Nicole Melichar and Bruno Soares (6-4, 7-6)<\/a> in the Semifinal.
