{"id":12142,"date":"2017-07-11T14:23:48","date_gmt":"2017-07-11T06:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=12142"},"modified":"2017-07-18T11:11:33","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T03:11:33","slug":"dellacqua-barty-peers-reach-wimbe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2017\/07\/11\/dellacqua-barty-peers-reach-wimbe","title":{"rendered":"Dellacqua, Barty, Peers reach Wimbledon Quarters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Casey Dellacqua Ash Barty and won again to move through to the women&#8217;s doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon, while John Peers also reached the last eight<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Perth&#8217;s<strong> Casey Dellacqua,<\/strong> and partner <strong>Ash Barty<\/strong> have continued their march through the women\u2019s doubles draw at Wimbledon, winning through to the quarterfinals on Monday in straight sets over Elise Mertens and Demi Schuurs.<\/p>\n<p>The No.8 seeds won 6-1 7-6(6) and will next take on second seeds Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, the reigning Olympic gold medallists from Rio.<\/p>\n<p>Also advancing on Monday was <strong>John Peers<\/strong>, who along with Finnish partner Henri Kontinen overcame qualifiers Hugo Nys and Antonio Sancic.<\/p>\n<p>Peers and Kontinen, the No.1 seeds and Australian Open champions, line up in the quarterfinals against 10th seeds Ryan Harrison and Michael Venus, the winning pair at Roland Garros.<\/p>\n<p>It was a winning day for Peers, who also advanced to the third round of the mixed doubles with Sabine Lisicki.<\/p>\n<p>Barty and Dellacqua reached the doubles final at Wimbledon four years ago and are looking to keep their stellar grasscourt season going after capturing the title in Birmingham and finishing runner-up in Eastbourne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really confident \u2013 we\u2019ve had a lot of matches on grass, a few more than (Makarova and Vesnina) have. On our day we can beat any team in the draw,\u201d Barty said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were a set and a break up at 6-1 5-3 (against Mertens and Schuurs) and we were in control I think \u2013 we just got a little unlucky trying to serve it out.\u00a0But it was just nice to come through. We did enough today to get through and give ourselves a chance for another match.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After two three-set tussels earlier in the tournament, this was the Aussie team\u2019s most comfortable match victory so far at SW19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think at this stage of the tournament no teams are easy.
