{"id":11911,"date":"2017-03-23T17:25:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-23T09:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=11911"},"modified":"2017-03-29T15:13:22","modified_gmt":"2017-03-29T07:13:22","slug":"molik-klein-take-to-the-courts-for-state-league-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2017\/03\/23\/molik-klein-take-to-the-courts-for-state-league-final","title":{"rendered":"Molik, Klein take to the courts for State League Final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Alicia Molik <\/strong>and <strong>Brydan Klein<\/strong> will add some star power to this Saturday\u2019s State League Final line-up with the pair taking to the courts in a bid to win the coveted State League Shields and a share of $16K in prize money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Former World Number 8, and current Fed Cup Captain, <strong>Alicia Molik<\/strong> will headline for <strong>Cottesloe Tennis Club <\/strong>in the Women\u2019s State League Final as they take on reigning champions <strong>Blue Gum Park Tennis Club<\/strong> on their home soil.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The match promises to be a great tussle between the two powerhouse clubs, with Blue Gum Park going into the match with a lot of confidence, having finished top of the table with 12 wins from 14 matches, and earning a home Final. The club, under the direction of stalwart Captain <strong>Sheridan Currie,<\/strong> is also determined to make it three-in-a-row after taking home the silverware for the last two years. \u00a0Cottesloe, however are certainly a force to be reckoned with, having won 5 of their last 7 matches, and boasting a squad of talented up-and-coming juniors including <strong>Lauren Nikoloski <\/strong>and <strong>Ruby Culley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Final between Blue Gum Park TC and Cottesloe TC will take place at Blue Gum Park Tennis Club from 12.30pm, beginning with singles matches.<\/p>\n<p>To download the Women&#8217;s State League Program, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/doc\/2017-womens-state-league-program\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the Men\u2019s Final, <strong>Mosman Park TC<\/strong> will be looking to take home their maiden State League shield when they take on <strong>Hensman Park TC <\/strong>this weekend. Hensman will enjoy a home Final after finishing 2<sup>nd <\/sup>on the ladder and posting a convincing win against reigning champions, Cottesloe TC in the Semi-Final last weekend. \u00a0Hensman are no stranger to State League glory, winning 6 titles in the last 12 years. However Mosman Park have certainly brought the star power this season, with a team line-up featuring the likes of <strong>Matt Ebden,<\/strong> <strong>Brydan Klein, Gavin Van Peperzeel <\/strong>and 2017 Australian Open Doubles Champion,<strong> John Peers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Klein<strong>, <\/strong>who is currently ranked World No. 191 in doubles, is expected to grace the courts for Mosman Park this weekend after securing a much needed win for his team last Saturday against <strong>Jake Robinson <\/strong>from Royal Kings Park TC 6-4, 7-6. Klein is a former junior Australian Open Champion and currently plays for Great Britain on the Pro Circuit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Klein\u2019s likely opponent will be Hensman\u2019s Captain and number one player, <strong>Zach Itzstein<\/strong> who is enjoying some good form after last week dismantling Cottesloe number one player, <strong>Andrew Roberts<\/strong> in straight sets.
