{"id":11838,"date":"2017-02-21T11:49:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-21T03:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=11838"},"modified":"2017-02-28T10:55:05","modified_gmt":"2017-02-28T02:55:05","slug":"aussie-young-guns-headline-perth-tennis-international-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2017\/02\/21\/aussie-young-guns-headline-perth-tennis-international-2","title":{"rendered":"Aussie young guns headline Perth Tennis International #2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After an all Czech Final on Sunday which saw <strong>Marie Bouzkova <\/strong>defeat qualifier <strong>Marketa Vondrousova<\/strong> in three sets at the Perth Tennis International #1, the Aussie contingent are determined to make their mark in the second week of the Perth ITF event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hometown favourite <strong>Storm Sanders<\/strong> (AUS) was awarded a wildcard into the Main Draw of the tournament, along with Queenslander <strong>Priscilla Hon<\/strong>, who last week made the quarterfinals of the Perth Tennis International #1 before being knocked out by Vondrousova in her charge to the Final.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sanders will face fifth seed, <strong>Kristie Ahn <\/strong>(USA) in her first round match, whilst Hon will take on <strong>Junri Namigata<\/strong> from Japan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Seventeen year old <strong>Jaimee Fourlis <\/strong>(AUS) also qualified for the Main Draw today, alongside fellow Aussies <strong>Zoe Hives<\/strong> and <strong>Masa Jovanovic. <\/strong>The trio will join a large contingent of Australian players in the first round of matches commencing tomorrow, including <strong>Destanee Aiava,<\/strong> <strong>Tammi Patterson<\/strong>, <strong>Genevieve Lorbergs<\/strong> and <strong>Olivia Rogowska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fourlis will certainly be one to watch after last year winning the Perth Tennis International as a qualifier. Fourlis has had a dream start to 2017, earning a wildcard into the main draw of the Australian Open where she progressed to the second round, before eventually losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS) 2-6,1-6.
