{"id":11746,"date":"2017-01-09T10:20:40","date_gmt":"2017-01-09T02:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?p=11746"},"modified":"2017-01-09T10:21:01","modified_gmt":"2017-01-09T02:21:01","slug":"2017-women-in-tennis-legends-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news\/2017\/01\/09\/2017-women-in-tennis-legends-breakfast","title":{"rendered":"2017 Women in Tennis Legends Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 29th Women in Tennis Legends Breakfast was held on Thursday 5 January\u00a0at Perth Arena\u2019s VIP Reverley Room, with special guest <strong>Roger Rasheed.<\/strong>\u00a0128\u00a0people attended this very special event, which aims to raise funds for the promising junior female tennis players in WA.<\/p>\n<p>Among those in attendance was Tennis West CEO and Hopman Cup General Manager,\u00a0<strong>Michael Roberts,<\/strong>\u00a0Hopman Cup Tournament Director <strong>Paul Kilderry<\/strong>, Women in Tennis President <strong>Trish Ross<\/strong>, Tennis\u00a0West President, <strong>Wayne Firns<\/strong>, and Tennis\u00a0Australia Board Member,\u00a0<strong>Greg Hutchinson.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Channel 7&#8217;s <strong>Peter Vlahos,<\/strong>\u00a0was the event&#8217;s Master of Ceremonies and conducted a fantastic interview with Roger Rasheed, who\u00a0engaged\u00a0the audience with\u00a0candid stories about his playing, coaching and media career.<\/p>\n<p>After the audience heard from the Special Guests and tucked into their superbly presented breakfast, there was a live auction of Daria Gavrilova&#8217;s tennis shoes, along with a much-anticipated raffle draw, with the prizes kindly donated by Doris Brinkhaus from Brinkhaus Jewellers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st Prize: Stunning bracelet \u2013 Stunning White Gold and Diamond Ring valued at $1,690<\/li>\n<li>2nd Prize: Exquisite silver ring with large feature S\/Sea Pearl and Blue Sapphires valued at $840<\/li>\n<li>3rd Prize: Stainless steel &amp; bronze bracelet with diamonds valued at $675<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All proceeds from the sale of the raffle and the auction went directly to the Women in Tennis Fundraising Committee, to assist with the development of junior female tennis players in this state.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Breakfast package guests purchased\u00a0tickets to the Czech Republic v Spain match, which immediately followed the breakfast.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s breakfast was a huge success, largely due to the hard work of the Women in Tennis Committee, and their very generous sponsors.
