{"id":11452,"date":"2016-08-24T09:33:25","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T01:33:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/?page_id=11452"},"modified":"2018-01-12T14:03:18","modified_gmt":"2018-01-12T06:03:18","slug":"2016-wa-tennis-industry-awards-night","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wa\/news-and-events\/events\/wa-tennis-industry-awards-night-2\/2016-wa-tennis-industry-awards-night","title":{"rendered":"2016 WA Tennis Industry Awards Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>WA Tennis Industry Awards 2016<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Manning Tennis Club<\/strong> named <strong>Club of the Year<\/strong> at WA Tennis Industry Awards Night.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tennis West&#8217;s most prestigious event, the <strong>WA Tennis Industry Awards<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Night<\/strong> was held on Friday 28 October at the picturesque State Reception Centre, Kings Park. <strong>Manning Tennis Club<\/strong> was the toast of evening, taking out the top honours, being named the Most Outstanding Club.<\/p>\n<p>Manning Tennis Club was a clear standout club in the 2015\/16 year, owing to the club\u2019s inviting culture, accessibility to the community, and implementation of Tennis Australia programs and competitive opportunities for players. With over 150 members, the club offers year-round playing opportunities, and organises social events throughout the year designed to foster the camaraderie amongst the club and wider community.<\/p>\n<p>Channel 7\u2019s, <strong>Peter Vlahos<\/strong> did a fantastic job of entertaining over 230 guests all night in his role as Master of Ceremonies, whilst Headline Act <strong>Peter Rowsthorn<\/strong>\u00a0kept everyone in stitches throughout his entire standup comedy routine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe WA Tennis Industry Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate tennis in Western Australia and recognise the outstanding achievements of our State\u2019s junior and senior players, officials, coaches, volunteers, administrators and clubs\u201d said <strong>Tennis West President,<\/strong> <strong>Wayne Firns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTennis is experiencing fantastic growth in WA at the moment and this event is a great opportunity to take stock, reflect on the achievements of everyone and enjoy each other\u2019s company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s Australian Open wildcard winner, <strong>Maddison Inglis<\/strong> took home the <strong>Junior Tennis Star Award<\/strong>, which recognises a player 18\/U who is ranked number 1 in their age group in WA and has a demonstrated record of playing for Australia. Inglis continues to climb the WTA rankings whilst playing the Pro Tour Events domestically and internationally.
