{"id":6933,"date":"2012-06-21T10:00:34","date_gmt":"2012-06-21T00:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=6933"},"modified":"2012-06-21T10:00:34","modified_gmt":"2012-06-21T00:00:34","slug":"volunteer-achievement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2012\/06\/21\/volunteer-achievement","title":{"rendered":"Volunteer Achievement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As\u00a0Tennis Victoria\u2019s Championships Dinner on 25 June\u00a0draws closer, we take a look at the finalists in each category; today, we look at the <em>Volunteer Achievement <\/em>award.<\/p>\n<p>This award, presented by Curnow Tennis, recognises highly commendable service to Tennis Victoria, or to a Tennis Victoria affiliate. They are, or have been, a member of a committee of management and have a proven track record of increasing community awareness and participation. They show great leadership qualities and assist in the maintenance of general operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anne Baldwin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Anne Baldwin is an extremely valuable volunteer. She is a member of many different committees, including being a Tennis Victoria Council Delegate since 1999 and a Tennis Victoria Board Member since 2005. Anne is Secretary of the Frankston Tennis Club and was a key member of the Strategic Relocation Sub-Committee who assisted in negotiating with various stakeholders regarding potential site relocations due to the expansion plan of a nearby facility. They were recently successful and will be allowed to stay at their current site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julie Fidler<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The dedicated President of Victory Park Tennis Club and a member of a number of Tennis Victoria committees, Julie Fidler is enthusiastic and committed to the game of tennis. Julie is extremely passionate about helping young players reach their potential and is always trying new programs, such as introducing MLC Tennis Hot Shots and Cardio Tennis, in order to help the players at her club grow. Julie takes on enormous responsibility by accompanying players overseas to compete in tournaments and uses her skills to assist the local community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicole Seckold<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Through significant adversity and hardship Nicole Seckold was able to help rebuild Kinglake Ranges Tennis Club after it was all but destroyed in the Black Saturday bushfires. The club rooms and courts all required rebuilding after the fires and Nicole was instrumental in organising the funding to do this. The new facilities helped bring the community together and created a supportive network. Nicole has also secured grants for the club to purchase new uniforms for the competitive players, further cementing the new identity of the club.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are still available for the dinner which\u00a0will be a celebration\u00a0of our local champions, Pat Cash\u2019s Wimbledon triumph 25 years ago\u00a0and Victorian tennis as a whole.
