{"id":6638,"date":"2012-05-23T17:09:50","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T07:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=6638"},"modified":"2012-05-23T17:09:50","modified_gmt":"2012-05-23T07:09:50","slug":"victorian-tennis-clubs-awarded-vichealth-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2012\/05\/23\/victorian-tennis-clubs-awarded-vichealth-grant","title":{"rendered":"Victorian Tennis Clubs Awarded VicHealth Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of Tennis Victoria affiliated clubs have been awarded a VicHealth Active Club Grant to help enhance the facilities and equipment at their club.<\/p>\n<p>Grants of up to $2500 were awarded, with the money going towards the purchase of sporting and injury prevention equipment, training volunteers and portable sun shades.<\/p>\n<p>The grants were given to clubs that cater for indigenous communities, young people, older people, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and clubs in rural and low socio-economic areas.<\/p>\n<p>The North Sunshine Tennis Club received a grant of $1100 and has put it towards a new defibrillator to ensure the safety of their members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was something that we as a club saw as really important,\u201d said John Harvey, President of the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an older crowd at our club so it appeared to be the logical thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is only a matter of time before someone has an incident on tennis court.
