The 2026 Frank Sedgman Cup welcomed\u202f15<\/span> teams from<\/span><\/b> across Victoria for a fantastic display of country tennis in Traralgon.\u202fThis\u202frepresentation event caters for 11&u\u202fBoys and Girls who play in a mixed team together\u202fwith players\u202fplaying\u202fsingles and mixed throughout the event. We thank the La\u202fTrobe City Council<\/strong> for their support in bringing this event to the region and \u202fLatrobe\u202fCity\u202fcouncil\u202fMayor Cr Sharon Gibson\u202ffor her welcome and introduction to the event. There were over 60 players<\/strong> from all over the state\u202fthat participated in the event.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite challenging weather conditions throughout the\u202fweekend, all teams were able to complete\u202fat least three round-robin matches, ensuring every player had the opportunity to get on court and represent their region.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, with persistent rain making the courts unplayable, the difficult decision was made to cancel the\u202fsecond day of play\u202ffinals. While it was disappointing not to\u202fdetermine\u202fthe overall winners on court, the safety of\u202fthe\u202fplayers\u202fremained\u202fthe highest priority.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A\u202fmassive\u202fthank you to all players, team managers,\u202fofficials, volunteers and supporters for their patience,\u202fflexibility\u202fand positive attitude throughout the weekend. Your understanding and cooperation helped make the event a success despite the circumstances, and the sportsmanship displayed by all teams was a fantastic reflection of the spirit of the Frank Sedgman Cup.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another memorable event.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
