{"id":43893,"date":"2026-06-29T09:31:51","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T23:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=43893"},"modified":"2026-06-29T10:08:27","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T00:08:27","slug":"frank-sedgman-cup-returns-to-traralgon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2026\/06\/29\/frank-sedgman-cup-returns-to-traralgon","title":{"rendered":"Frank Sedgman Cup returns to\u00a0Traralgon\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<p><strong>Traralgon\u00a0Tennis\u00a0Association<\/strong>\u202fis set to host the <strong>Frank\u00a0Sedgman\u00a0Cup<\/strong> where aspiring 11&amp;u players from across the\u00a0state will\u00a0be\u00a0competing\u00a0in a mixed\u00a0team\u2019s\u00a0event.<span style=\"font-size: revert;color: initial;font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>These players will be competing in singles and mixed doubles this week from Monday 29 June to Tuesday 30 June, representing their Metropolitan Associations or Country Regions to the best of their ability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Tennis Victoria CEO, Kim Kachel<\/strong> highlighted\u00a0the significance of the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Frank Sedgman Cup is where passion for the game really comes to life. You see young players competing hard, backing their teammates and embracing what it means to represent their region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tennis Victoria is proud to keep creating opportunities like this across Victoria, and we thank the Traralgon Tennis Association and Latrobe City Council for bringing it to life.<\/p>\n<p>Events like this are also bring great economic impact to the region which is great for the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The event\u00a0will see\u00a0over\u00a060\u00a0athletes across\u00a07\u00a0Metropolitan\u00a0Associations\u00a0and\u00a08\u00a0Country Regions,\u00a0made possible by the support\u00a0the <b>Latrobe City Council<\/b>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson<\/strong>\u00a0said on behalf of Latrobe City, she was delighted to welcome players,\u00a0officials\u00a0and visitors for the Frank Sedgman Cup to the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so great to see young players given the opportunity to compete at such a high level, and for our community to share in their excitement and enthusiasm,\u201d Cr Gibson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvents like put a fire in the belly for the next generation who see the possibility for themselves being the next Wimbledon winner. \u00a0It also gives families and visitors the chance to see why we love Latrobe City with our welcoming community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are proud and honoured to play a part in creating these memories and opportunities for the next generation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event will allow players to\u00a0represent\u00a0their\u00a0association or region and enjoy a weekend of competitive playing opportunities in singles and mixed doubles, with one\u00a0team\u00a0to be crowned the winner of\u00a0the Frank Sedgman Cup.
