{"id":41709,"date":"2025-04-08T00:12:04","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T14:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=41709"},"modified":"2025-04-10T00:22:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T14:22:15","slug":"kooyong-and-mcc-glen-iris-valley-crowned-2025-premier-league-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2025\/04\/08\/kooyong-and-mcc-glen-iris-valley-crowned-2025-premier-league-champions","title":{"rendered":"Kooyong and MCC Glen Iris Valley Crowned 2025 Premier League Champions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>2025 Tennis Victoria Premier League Grand Final<\/strong> served up a thrilling night of high-level tennis at MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club on Friday 4 April, with both the Women\u2019s and Men\u2019s titles on the line.<\/p>\n<p>The Premier League Grand Final night also included the presentation of some awards.\u00a0<strong>The Premier League Ace Award<\/strong> aims to recognise outstanding performance and consistency during the Tennis Victoria Premier League competition. It is given to the male and female player that is the \u201cbest\u201d of the competition, based on match results during the five regular season rounds.\u00a0The 2025 Ace Award winners are Alana Parnaby from MCC Glen Iris Valley Tennis Club and Alex Klintcharov from Grace Park Hawthorn Club.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, each Premier league season two tennis player\u2019s one female and one male are recognised with the <strong>Paul Arber Memorial Award<\/strong>. This award recognises players who have displayed determination, strong work ethic and excellent sportsmanship. This award is voted on by our officials and staff at each round. This award is in memory of player and coach Paul Arber.\u00a0The recipients of the 2025 Paul Arber Memorial Award are James Watt from Grace Park Hawthorn Club and Alicia Dale from Essendon Tennis Club.<\/p>\n<h3>Grand Final Results:<\/h3>\n<p>In the Women\u2019s final, the home side <strong>MCC Glen Iris Valley Demons<\/strong> faced off against <strong>Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club<\/strong>. The Demons wasted no time stamping their authority on the match, getting off to a dominant start in the double&#8217;s rubbers.<\/p>\n<p>Alana Parnaby and Stefani Webb were strong in their win over Zoe Llewellyn and Jasmin Starr, taking the match 6-1 6-1. On the adjoining court, Irina Anghel and Scarlett Dattoli followed suit, defeating Amelia Zylberman and Charlotte Vanstone-McGrath 6-2 6-1.<\/p>\n<p>With momentum firmly in their corner, the Demons carried their form into the singles. Alana Parnaby continued her impressive run, taking on Jasmin Starr in the number one singles rubber, while Stefani Webb faced Gabrielle Villegas in the number two. However, Kooyong quickly responded, with Andrew Coelho and David Bidmeade defeating Sam Thompson and Marcus Neild 6-2 6-4.<\/p>\n<p>With the score locked at one-all, it came down to the the singles rubbers to decide the championship. In the second singles match, Andrew Coelho edged past Sam Thompson in a high-quality encounter, taking the match 6-4 3-6 10-5 in a deciding match tiebreak.<\/p>\n<p>With all eyes now on the last match on court, the number one singles rubber lived up to expectations with Vincent Stouff (GPHC) taking on Omar Jasika (KLTC). Both players delivered an exciting blend of powerful baseline rallies and sharp net play. With one set each, the title came down to a thrilling match tiebreak.
