Day 7:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Saturday saw two of our mixed doubles pairs in action.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local Victorian stars Destanee Aiava<\/strong> and Omar Jassika<\/strong> faced Italians Sara Errani<\/strong> and Andrea Vavassori<\/strong> but were defeated 6-3, 6-4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Later in the day,\u00a0John Peers<\/strong>\u00a0and his doubles partner\u00a0Olivia Gadecki <\/strong>(Queensland) took on Americans Robert Galloway<\/strong> and Nicole Melichar-Martinez<\/strong>. After a tight first set, the Aussies powered through to a convincing victory, 7(11)-6(9), 6-1.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 9:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Following their weekend victory, Australian duo Peers<\/strong> and Gadecki<\/strong> played Salvadorian Marcelo Arevalo<\/strong> and Hungarian T\u00edmea Babos<\/strong> at John Cain Arena. The crowd turned out in force to cheer on the Aussies, who secured another win with a solid 6-4, 6-4 result.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 10:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Round 1 of the quad wheelchair singles featured an all-Victorian clash between veteran Heath Davidson<\/strong> and Jin Woodman<\/strong>. In a hard-fought battle, Woodman emerged victorious in three sets, 7-6, 6-2, 6-3.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the second wheelchair match of the day, Finn Broadbent<\/strong> faced Turkey\u2019s Ahmet Kaplan<\/strong> but was unfortunately defeated 6-1,6-1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With three Australian mixed doubles pairs still in the draw, the quarterfinals brought Peers<\/strong> and Gadecki<\/strong> up against India\u2019s Rohan Bopanna<\/strong> and China\u2019s Zhang Shuai<\/strong>. The Aussies triumphed in an intense match, winning 6-2, 6(11)-4(9) taking them through to the semifinals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Juniors:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Victoria’s Ymerali Ibraimi<\/strong> teamed up with fellow Aussie Jonas Hahn<\/strong> to take on Italians Pierluigi Basile<\/strong> and Jacopo Vasami<\/strong> in doubles. Despite their best efforts, the boys fell short, losing 6-4, 6-4.<\/span><\/p>\n

The following day, Ibraimi<\/strong> competed in singles against Amir Omarkhanov<\/strong> from Kazakhstan but was defeated 6-4, 6-3.<\/span><\/p>\n
