Day 4 saw a couple of our double’s pairs and juniors begin to take court.<\/p>\n

Day 4:<\/h3>\n

Day four of the AO saw doubles duo, Victorian John Peers<\/strong> and Jamie Murray<\/strong> from Great Britain, join forces against Borna Gojo<\/strong> from Croatia and Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic<\/strong>. In a short and sweet 45-minute match Peers and Murray came away with the win in a 6-3,6-7(5), 6-3 victory.<\/p>\n

Our second doubles match of the day involved an all-Victorian pair in\u00a0Marc Polmans<\/strong> and Matthew Romios<\/strong>. Romios experienced his Grand Slam debut alongside old time friend Polmans. The Vics were victorious over the opposing French duo consisting of Manuel Guinard<\/strong> and Arthur Rinderknech<\/strong>, defeating them 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. The local pair will continue to keep digging<\/em> in their next match.<\/p>\n

Day 5:<\/h3>\n

On Day 5 our first Women’s Doubles pair consisting of our very own Victorian\u00a0Jaimee Fourlis<\/strong> and her South-Australian partner Petra Hule<\/strong> had their first match. Their opponents\u00a0Elise Mertens<\/strong> (Belgium) and Ellen Perez<\/strong> (Australia) won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, against them.<\/p>\n

Next, Destanee Aiava<\/strong> faced her most challenging opponent so far in 10th seed Danielle Collins<\/strong> from the United States. Collins ultimately claimed a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-2 win in an intense contest that spanned two hours and 25 minutes. Day 6:<\/h3>\n

Our next Women’s Doubles duo Victorian\u00a0Daria Saville<\/strong> and Queenslander\u00a0Priscilla Hon<\/strong> took to court against the Italians Sara Errani<\/strong> and Jasmine Paolini<\/strong>. Errani and Paolini managed to take the win in two sets with the results ending 6-1, 7-5.<\/p>\n

Peers<\/strong> and Murray<\/strong> took to the court again to face off against Dutchmen Botic Van de Zandschulp<\/strong> and Tallon Griekspoor<\/strong>. The Dutch duo were victorious, winning in straight sets with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-2.<\/p>\n

Destanee Aiava<\/strong> came back to play with partner Maddison Inglis<\/strong>, where they were defeated by Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk<\/strong> and Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse<\/strong>\u00a0in a competitive match with the final scores sitting at 6-4, 7(7)-6(2).<\/p>\n

In the Mixed Doubles, husband and wife duo Daria and Luke Saville<\/strong>\u00a0came up against American Jackson Withrow<\/strong> and Irina Khromacheva<\/strong>. They lost the match in straight sets, with the final score being 6-4, 6-0.<\/p>\n

Later on in the day, Polmans<\/strong> and Romios<\/strong> returned for their second doubles match against Finnish tennis player Harri Heli\u00f6vaara<\/strong> and British partner Henry Patten<\/strong>. Heli\u00f6vaara<\/strong> and Patten<\/strong> defeated the Victorians in straight sets, with the final scores being 7-6(7), 6-3.<\/p>\n

Juniors:<\/h3>\n

Victorian Ava Beck<\/strong> was defeated by British player\u00a0Mingge\u00a0Xu<\/strong> in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.<\/p>\n

Victorian Ymerali Ibraimi <\/strong>beat\u00a0Brazilian\u00a0Pedro Albuquerque Dietrich<\/strong> in two sets, 7-5, 6-3.<\/p>\n

Victorian pair Ava Beck<\/strong> and Koharu\u00a0Nishikawa<\/strong> lost to Bulgarians\u00a0Rositsa Dencheva<\/strong> and\u00a0Elizara\u00a0Yaneva<\/strong> in doubles, 6-3, 6(11)-2(9)<\/p>\n
