{"id":40039,"date":"2024-12-18T11:04:40","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T00:04:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=40039"},"modified":"2025-01-21T05:44:56","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T18:44:56","slug":"victorious-victorians-at-16-u-and-18-u-australian-junior-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/competitive-play\/2024\/12\/18\/victorious-victorians-at-16-u-and-18-u-australian-junior-championships","title":{"rendered":"Victorious Victorians at 16\/u and 18\/u Australian Junior Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victorian future stars have taken home National titles at the December Showdown in Bendigo, with <strong>Ymerali Ibriami<\/strong> claiming 16\/u boys\u2019 honours, and <strong>Ava Beck<\/strong> taking out the 18\/u category.<\/p>\n<p>For Ibriami, triumph in the 16\/u Australian Open Championships earns a wildcard entry into the Australia Open 2025 Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Beck was also granted a qualifying wildcard into an Australian Pro Tour tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Ibriami took out the boys\u2019 event with conviction, losing an average of just four games per match over the week. In securing an entry to the Australian Open 2025 boys\u2019 tournament, Ibriami saw the opportunity to test his game against the best junior players in the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would mean a lot for the experience. It would help my game a lot to see what\u2019s out there in the world,\u201d he commented during his winning campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would definitely give me a big confidence boost to play in front of the Aussie fans and to really show the world who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/news\/2024\/12\/16\/champions-crowned-at-16-u-and-18-u-australian-junior-championships\/attachment\/australian-16u-champions\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-197899\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-197899 size-standard-landscape\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Australian-16u-champions-700x450.jpg\" alt=\"Australian 16\/u champions: Ymerali Ibriami (left) and Sarah Mildren (right)\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h6>Australian 16\/u champions: Ymerali Ibriami (left)<\/h6>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ava Beck has continued her sensational season, triumphing in the 18\/u tournament. The 2022 14\/u finalist defeated her doubles partner Koharu Nishikawa 6-1 1-6 6-4 in the final, prevailing in all six of her group stage and knockout matches.<\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old, who has soared up the ITF rankings in 2024, can now add the national title to her already impressive resume. Now world No.101, Beck has won three ITF titles this season and was selected to represent Australia in the junior Billie Jean King Cup team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the highlights of my season was representing Australia in Kazakhstan and Turkey. Playing against the best girls around the world was such a great experience and such a good learning experience,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was an honour being a part of the team, just three girls being selected.
