The day was a big win for the programs, pathway and exposure of Tennis Victoria Pennant at Yarra Glen Tennis Club which, like many, is competing against other sports in the area.

The Yarra Glen Tennis Club had a dip in membership in 2016, falling below 25 members. Therefore, fielding two Pennant teams and attracting spectators to the club is a significant achievement for the developing club.

The Men’s Grade 11 match provided the nail biting highlights of the day. Hosting West Brunswick, who were considered by the home team to be the number one seed, it was a match worthy of a final that came down to the last rubber of the day. Yarra Glen’s No. 3 was trailing 6-4 in the singles, managed to shift the momentum and win four games in a row to secure the win with the support of the home crowd.

For a club that is 128 years old and has only won a solitary Women’s Pennant flag in 2000, and has never had a Men’s team progress to the grade finals, the future is looking bright.

Congratulations Yarra Glen Tennis Club and good luck for the rest of the season and beyond!

[98,1,56
84
post-38388","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-community","category-news","category-reward-recognition","tag-monthly-awards
["GET
