{"id":36495,"date":"2023-12-20T04:36:19","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T17:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=36495"},"modified":"2023-12-20T04:38:07","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T17:38:07","slug":"heath-davidson-launches-biggest-wheelchair-summer-series-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2023\/12\/20\/heath-davidson-launches-biggest-wheelchair-summer-series-yet","title":{"rendered":"Heath Davidson launches biggest wheelchair summer series yet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"banner-article__container__text default\">\n<p><strong>The 2024 Australian Wheelchair Summer Series will welcome more than 100 players from over 26 countries in January.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<p>Paralympic Gold Medallist Heath Davidson launched the 2024 Australian Wheelchair Summer Series at Hume Tennis and Community Centre, alongside Tennis Australia Director of Pathways and Tennis Services Lawrence Robertson.<\/p>\n<p>The launch marks the start of the summer wheelchair events, which includes the Victorian Wheelchair Tennis Open \u2013 ITF1, Melbourne Wheelchair Open \u2013 Super Series and Australian Open Wheelchair Championships \u2013 Grand Slam.<\/p>\n<p>To officially open the event, local Hume player and 14-year-old wildcard holder Jin Woodman joined Paralympian, Heath Davidson in launching the Summer of Wheelchair Tennis.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the tournament\u2019s growth, Davidson expressed, \u201cI was here at the first event, and we had around 50 players. Fast forward nine years, and we\u2019ve got one of the world\u2019s biggest tournaments\u2026it\u2019s a huge thank you to the team at Tennis Australia.
