Victorian tennis is saddened by the passing of Beverley Rae (nee Mance) on 10 September, aged 93 years.<\/p>\n

Beverley was the recipient of the Victorian Spirit of Tennis Award (formerly Centenary of Tennis) in 1998.<\/p>\n

Bev was a tennis coach, and owned a coaching business with her husband Alan for 25 years. She was a No. 1 player and Captain of State Grade teams at both Glen Iris Valley and Caulfield Rec Tennis Club for a record 37 years. Bev won her first Glen Iris Valley Recreational Club Tennis Championships in 1948, and in 1971 she was the winner for the 17th time – an incredible achievement. She went on to join the veterans tour and won numerous National, World and European titles.<\/p>\n

Also a State and Australian selector of women’s tennis, Bev was awarded a Sports Achievement Award. She was a Life Member of Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.<\/p>\n
