{"id":33784,"date":"2023-09-18T06:13:16","date_gmt":"2023-09-17T20:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=33784"},"modified":"2023-09-25T05:27:29","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T19:27:29","slug":"vale-beverley-rae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2023\/09\/18\/vale-beverley-rae","title":{"rendered":"Vale Beverley Rae"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Victorian tennis is saddened by the passing of Beverley Rae (nee Mance) on 10 September, aged 93 years.<\/p>\n<p>Beverley was the recipient of the Victorian Spirit of Tennis Award (formerly Centenary of Tennis) in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Bev was a tennis coach, and owned a coaching business with her husband Alan for 25 years. She was a No. 1 player and Captain of State Grade teams at both Glen Iris Valley and Caulfield Rec Tennis Club for a record 37 years. Bev won her first Glen Iris Valley Recreational Club Tennis Championships in 1948, and in 1971 she was the winner for the 17th time &#8211; an incredible achievement. She went on to join the veterans tour and won numerous National, World and European titles.<\/p>\n<p>Also a State and Australian selector of women&#8217;s tennis, Bev was awarded a Sports Achievement Award.
