At the age of six, Jamie Sekulovski decided he wanted to jump out of the pool and onto the tennis court so he could play tennis like his older brother Steven.<\/p>\n
This decision has been rewarding for Jamie who, now aged 12, is currently ranked No.3 in Victoria for his birth year, and No.832 in Australia, a climb of over 1000 places in the past six months.<\/p>\n
Jamie had recent success at the 2010 Tasmanian Open and Junior Masters and the 2010 Canberra Junior Open winning the 12\/u boys\u2019 singles. He was also a semifinalist at the 2010 Victorian Junior Clay Court Championships.<\/p>\n
The win at Canberra was a highlight in Jamie\u2019s short career.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a fantastic final against Jamie Fraser,\u201d said Suzi Sekulovski, Jamie\u2019s mother.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was three tough sets, where Jamie just went for it. His forehand, backhand and serve were phenomenal.\u201d<\/p>\n
Currently Jamie trains twice a week with Tennis Victoria\u2019s State Academy at Melbourne Park whilst also training with his private coaches, Paul Vassallo and Shaun Hoseman. Jamie also plays in several competitions and tournaments regularly to gain valuable match play.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe wouldn\u2019t miss attending the sessions for the world. He could play tennis 24\/7,\u201d said Suzi.<\/p>\n
Ashey Naumann, Tennis Victoria\u2019s Player Development Manager is impressed with Jamie\u2019s recent improvements.<\/p>\n
\u201cJamie has made significant progress with his development throughout 2010 and I\u2019m expecting promising results from him during this year,\u201d said Naumann.<\/p>\n
Roger Federer is Jamie\u2019s idol and he hopes to win as many titles as Federer, but for now Jamie will concentrate on preparing for the Optus 12s National Grasscourt Championships in Mildura.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
