{"id":32767,"date":"2023-08-22T05:54:24","date_gmt":"2023-08-21T19:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/?p=32767"},"modified":"2023-10-21T00:33:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T13:33:31","slug":"victorians-on-the-rise-overseas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tennis.com.au\/vic\/news\/2023\/08\/22\/victorians-on-the-rise-overseas","title":{"rendered":"Victorians on the rise overseas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few weeks, our Victorians have been excelling in overseas tournaments and events.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With the US Open next week, Marc Polmans, Jaimee Fourlis and Arina Rodionova will be battling it out in the qualifying draw this week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Daria Saville has qualified and will be in the main draw of the US Open, a remarkable effort since returning from injury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John Peers:\u00a0<\/strong>The 35-year-old recorded his best result of the season at ATP Masters 1000 level, advancing to the doubles quarterfinals with Croatia\u2019s Nikola Mektic. This was Peers\u2019 best performance in Cincinnati since 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Harris:<\/strong>\u00a0The 29-year-old advanced to the doubles semifinals at an ATP Challenger in Winnipeg (Canada) alongside American partner Christian Harrison. This\u00a0was Harris\u2019 eighth semifinal appearance of the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Daria Saville:<\/strong>\u00a0The 29-year-old advanced to the singles quarterfinals at a WTA 125 tournament at Barranquilla (Colombia). Saville, who returned to the tour in June after a nine-month injury lay-off, has now won six of her past nine singles matches.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Destanee Aiava:<\/strong>\u00a0The 23-year-old scooped the singles and doubles titles at an ITF 25 tournament in Aldershot (Great Britain). It is Aiava\u2019s sixth career ITF singles title and first won on international soil since April 2018. She teamed with Brit Sarah Beth Grey to claim her third doubles title of the season.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: inherit\">\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Juniors on the rise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our junior players have been producing some great results over the last month.
