We were proud to have 10 Victorian tennis players (including 2 Juniors) competing at Wimbledon in London. Congratulations to Heath Davidson on making it to the Quad Wheelchair Singles and Doubles Final and Royal South Yarra\u2019s Storm Hunter on reaching the Women\u2019s Doubles Final.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Closer to home, the next \u2018Super Round\u2019 of the Tennis Victoria State Grade season is scheduled for August 12th at Oak Park and North Ringwood Tennis Clubs. The State Grade action is electric, so be sure to be at the Clubs from 1pm to see some of our State\u2019s best players in action across the venues. You can also stay updated on all Pennant and State match fixtures on our Tennis Victoria social media channels and <\/span>website<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NAIDOC Week was an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories. It was therefore a great opportunity for Tennis Victoria to highlight our <\/span>Culture on Court<\/span><\/a> program which brings together our First Nations community with\u00a0on-court tennis and off-court cultural activities. We wish our Victorian Indigenous athletes all the best for the National Indigenous Carnival taking place in Darwin from 10-13 August. After the decision of the Victorian Government to withdraw from hosting the 2024 Commonwealth Games, Tennis Victoria is working with Government to understand what this means for our Tennis community and the guidelines attributed to the funding programs planned for release.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With Tennis Victoria President Jacqui Pirone, it was a pleasure to host our Life Members Dinner on Friday 21 July. A special thank you to those who attended. It was also a fantastic opportunity to announce the most recent Life Member of Tennis Victoria, Larraine McLean. Larry is well known by many in the Victorian Tennis community, you can read more about her contribution to tennis <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. Your outstanding service and dedication to tennis in Victoria is much appreciated.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More recently, Tennis Victoria was saddened on the passing of one of our former colleagues, <\/span>Nick Hinneberg<\/span><\/a>. Nick dedicated 17 years to Tennis Victoria, he made a significant contribution to our sport which included many weekends travelling around the state to competitions and tournaments to develop tennis across the state. We pass on our deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved Nick, especially his family wife Bis and daughters May and Lilly.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
