Michael was Tennis Victoria\u2019s Development Coach of the Year in 2022. With over 20 years experience, Michael has a lot of experience and understanding of tennis at all levels and helps his players achieve their goals.<\/p>\n<p>Michael was offered a Head Coach role at a tennis academy in New York which is what started his full time coaching journey. MANDATORY PHOTO CREDIT Tennis Australia\/ JAMES GOURLEY<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to sit on the court was an experience and having Sam [Stosur] and Lleyton [Hewitt] there as well on the court so that was an experience you don\u2019t get everyday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to be in that environment and being able to learn of the other country and being able to watch them train everyday and how they go about It I think was really good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere weren\u2019t too many people there it was probably more of an intimate type of tournament with the 6 countries, so it was an incredible experience being able to play at a pretty full Ken Rosewall arena and being amongst it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through the years, Michael has had some unforgettable experiences coaching Zoe. Zoe qualified for Wimbledon in 2022, an unbelievable achievement due to her health over the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe highlight for me was Zoe qualifying for Wimbledon last year. I\u2019d never been there so I tried to soak it all up. I feel like every student that I work with it\u2019s a journey for both of us. I\u2019m on a different journey with each of them and seeing them develop as people just as much as athletes is I think the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael sees coaching tennis to be coaching important life lessons on and off the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe greatest satisfaction that I take and the thing that makes me feel good is that they walk away and part of their tennis experience is the time they spent with me and what they learnt from me and that they\u2019re grateful for that, I think that\u2019s the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael\u2019s Kids on Court team came to the AO last Saturday and had a ball. Michael gave one of his coaches, Talia, the experience to go on court with the kids.
